Hi guys,

I played a hand earlier today at a final table I was at earlier today and wanted to discuss it.
I was dealt A8c in the big blind with 24 BB and 4 people left in the tournament. Action folds to button who raises to 3BB with 45 bigs, small blind calls and has 33 BB behind. I decided to 3 bet to 7.5 big blinds. Button calls and so does the small blind.

Flop comes :ad4: :5s4: :6s4:

Small blind checks, I check. I checked for a couple of reason. So far the table had been playing pretty tight and it was unusual to get 3 players in a 3 bet pot. Because of this, I figured it might be likely one player has me outkicked and didn't want to build a big pot.
The button bets 5 BB small blind folds and I call.

Turn is :7h4:

I shove my remaining10BB since I now have an open ended straight draw with top pair and the button folds. What do you think of my line? Am I playing too conservative on the flop with A8 in a four-handed game or is it better to be aggressive here? lmk what you guys think

I would have folded, waiting for better cards, rather than 'attack' 2 bigger stacks at FT with a marginal hand.
But I don't have table/player statistics that could change my oppinion.
Intersting to see what happend next, hope it payed off:)

I really cant tell you if it was right decision but it surely payed off for you :). Depends really on a table and the situation at the time. Sometimes thats the hand you want to play like you played it and sometimes its just a regular fold. But at the end of a tournament you want to play hands like that because you need to take the opportunity as you might not have another hand and you will be blinded out. For me now that i think it was a right decision. Good job.

I don't think you should be 3betting there. Also, you 3Bet very small into two guys, and you are out of position. With this small 3Bet you have to realize that you will get called by both players.
I think the most decent play here it's to call, see a very cheap flop. Also you could shove if you have information on both players.
But, since they make a 3BB raise and call, I would call also (it's also mathematically correct to call)

You have a good stack to resteal shove preflop. If I were you, I'd shove that hand in preflop!
You still had fold equity and could easily make the button (steal) and small blind (defense sb) folded to your shove!

A8s (shove resteal) vs Openraise Button (steal)

I would choose either fold or shove it pre-flop
Obvoisly, since you got calls from both of them after your 3-bet, that means that there is no point of 3-betting vs that kind of field/players..at least not with A8
Shoving is good option, you'll take like 35% of your stack if they fold
Folding is also ok, i mean def better that calling or 3-betting

Nothing wrong with the pre-flop play to me. Some may say just to shove or fold pre-flop, but I like the 3bet and I think Villians actions of flatting instead of either 4betting or folding to your short stack helps with putting villains on some narrower ranges. I would be putting them on mid pairs and drawing hands. I'm shoving that flop here every time in this position and how you played it pre-flop. I think you opened aggressively and then went a little too conservative on the flop in your current position and stack size, I would say, "keep the aggression going."

I would probably fold here. You have 28 BB so surely you will get a better starting hand. 4 players left, probably worth waiting a few hands. You are also might be out kicked on your Ace.

Problem is, even if he hits that A on flop he doesn't know where he is actually at..that's reason why i don't like 3-bet line here

You could do this, you could do that... it’s really no matter. You did right thing in that moment!!! It’s your call, if you lose in that moment, maybe in the next you will win in same situation. There is no right or wrong there. You got 4th place and that’s very good. Just play your game and don’t be in fear of busting from the tournament. I wish you good luck on the tables
