Hi guys I was just looking for some advice so I've won a ticket to the 100000 gt on bol through the 4 step sng's the tournament is way above my bankroll was thinking about making a deposit just to be able to play the add on if i make it that far. Also worried about the competition being tougher any thoughts on changing my game up at all or just stick with my usual mtt game plan? Sorry if I did this wrong first post!

The interesting thing to note is that it takes the same effort, time, luck and usually skill to win a $5 6k guarantee that it does to win a 100,000 gt. Is this a high roller or is a small buyin large field?

Also avoid step tournaments they are scams. Given the nature of variance it is unusually difficult to win tournaments in rows.

You are going to need that add-on.

The buy in for this tourney is 100 dollars I got in by playing step one for 25 cents and so on through four levels for this ticket. I guess my real dilemma now is that I want to play it to the best of my potential but the add on will be way above my bankroll and I know that's rule one. Maybe just play my free ticket and use this as a learning experience? But if I do well by the add it would be pointless to try to compete without it I think.

Dont force it and play above your roll.

If posdible probably best to hold onto the ticket to a future one so you are better prepared.

If not, just play the 1 free one, and best of luck!

Do not try to change it to be a style of play, and I also do not recommend doing a play and bilete add and try to go as far as possible and good luck.

If everything turns out to be without a deposit, you do not need to change anything and everything will be fine! You need to play only with top pairs and advancement in the tournament is ensured by 85%!

My normal strategy against the small stakes is to play super tight until the add on and then wait for good hands on the button. It feels easiest for a new player like me to extract the maximum value with any decent hand if I'm on the button.i d ont want to change up too much but I feel like I might need to open my hand range a little and possibly play the cutoff a little more agressivley against unknown player talent pool.thoughts?

Big tournament are very complicated, you can even get good cards at the beginning and get double, but this does not guarantee that you will get the ITM or the final table.

Im guessing how much different is it playing a 200 man tourney for 60 cents compared to a 200 man tourney for 100 dollars?

Just play tight, and don't play out of position with crap hands unless your steeling the blinds. they say you should try to win with crap hands like every 10 to 15 hands
to keep your stack up and keeping you from falling to low on chips. that doesn't mean go all in with 2-7, usually with ace crap,King crap, or queen crap. just a good size raise, fold any re-raises. try to stick to the 10 best pockets, also keep in mind that Ace Q. hits your hand, but queens just hit the last river that Queen is most likely not very good. kings and jacks would most likely be stronger that hand. there will be some lucky players there, but they won't last. a tight player can out last most Donks" and loose players. good luck to you. I have won 1st place in 3 ACR. Free Rolls this wk. with over 700 people playing. I earned over 84 mil. in play money on pokerstars. playing Tournaments. mostly 6 man though on Pokerstars. but I have never won their Sunday billions. took 84th with 1887 players. I studied Phil Hellmuth, Eli Elezra, but watched and learned from them all on Poker After Dark, and High Stakes Poker. I learned a bit about stealing blinds from Tom Dwan. Again Good luck and happy bank rolling.

I wouldn't do the add-on.

Just let it ride, you're only in for 25 cents. Try and remember that.

Just play your game and whatever happens, happens.

The only thing difference is the players are going to be more aggressive. They are going to know what they are doing but as long as you play solid you will be fine. You might not cash but that's alright. Just remember, you are only in for 25 cents!

Play it like your in for 25ct,,don`t over-think it. Play your best, that`s all you can do.Worse thing that`s going to happen is you`ll gain experience for the `next` time.:hello:

Thanks I kinda knew that all along but wanted to hear someone say it. It was actually pretty easy to place first in 4 sngs to get here so I'll just see what happens an play my same strategy as if I'm trying to win a 60 cent buy in. At worst it's going to be a good learning experience I'm excited to prepare like this and actually study my tendencies a little to see what a real tournament is like.

hi!
first of all its wrong to invest money in satellites for a tournament with an add on,if you are not able to take the add on.its a bad investment
play your game there, just be more tight in the beginning of the tournament!

There will be far fewer mistakes made by the players in the $100 buy in that you are able to take advantage of.

I play all levels of tourney on BOL, the play isn't going to be much better than the micro MTTs

Last year I came in 7th or 7th in the 50k gtd( BOLs biggest tournie at the time) I won't the ticket threw a satty and didn't re buy or add on, but I would strongly suggest to have at least enough money to make the add on at the first break

Play as always, keep calm and cool discretion, in my opinion, rebai is not required, if you have reached a sufficient level, you will go to the prizes and so, try your strength, do not do extra movements in advance, this is not the last tournament in your life. Learn, study and once again studying, and going to the Bahamas)))
