I played in the 8kgtd tournament at the casino last night.
and I just struggled to get off the mark...
I felt I did everything right... ish.

I had no premiun hands the only two good hands I had I correctly folded ace king on the turn when I was beat by two pair, and I folded pocket jacks pre flop as I was certain my opponent had kings or aces which he did...
so I was pretty disciplined,
I pulled off a couple of convincing bluffs as well read my opponents as missed draws in one hand, and put another on a medium pocket pair and repped the board well when a possible straight & overcards turned. .

despite all this every time I attempted to raise pre flopI would get 4 callers maybe 5 very donkish. id miss the flop im then in a position where I cant really float someone who is betting out in a 5-way pot.
this was to often the story..
so I got involved with ķ3 suited I bet both streets made my two pair put the guy on a flush draw.. I was convinced he had missed his draw on the river he only only turned over j9 he had hit one out for his straight.... i couldnt believe it..

similiar story against the king of the donks table captain, I raise 3.5x pre flop with pocket tens 7-3-3 - lovely board turns an 8 great card. . he had flatted pre flop so by the way he was playing I ruled out JJ + I pretty much put him on a 7 or 8 because its how he plays his weak paired hands such as 10-7 for example....

I tank for a minute were 4 hours into the tournament and im stacking 30k about average.
I want the double up im quite frustrated because it hasnt happened for me all night,
I call!! and he turns over 4-3 off, I couldn't believe it! the same guy who had just called a 3-bet with 5-2 off OOP and knocked out a guy holding AK top pair.

my general summary of night dissapointing.. maybe I need to be involved in more hands, as all the guys stacking big play all kinds of hands and just seem to win with those.

It is pretty standard in local tourneys for this to happen (atleast for me).

With 20-30 min levels, you aren't seeing many hands. Some casinos also skip some crucial levels, and in general there is just less play to be had.

Unless you can go on a semi-heater, it is very difficult to take these kind of tourneys down.

Keep ur chin up!
