To play in super turbos or to not play?

I'm wondering if I should play in super turbo's or not?

I have never played in a real money super turbo tourney before, the one I have in question is a $1.10 super turbo 9 player SnG. I have a 27% ROI in MTT. I have never played a SnG for real money, but I hear they can be very profitable. $1.10 is the smallest SnG on Bovada but I only have a $7.58 roll.

How does the super turbo structure change the regular SnG dynamic? Are super turbos worth my time?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't played a lot of SnGs but it seems that the faster the blinds go up the more luck-dependent things get. You have to hope you get a worthwhile hand before the blinds get too high and you either run out of options and get called all-in on a sub-optimal hand or straight-up get blinded out. So if you're confident in your ability to outplay other people, you're better off going normal speed.

Unfortunately yeah, on Bovada you're kind of stuck. The only $1.10 normal-speed SnGs they seem to have are the 5-table ones, everything else is either turbo or super turbo.

I hate those SNGs on Bovada, but it's the only game I've had the BR for. Basically, the blinds go up so fast that the last 5-6 players are just participating in a shove fest to make ITM. I'm not usually one of the lucky ones.

Would not recommend playing them unless u have a great understanding of them and a truckload of buying for them....They are so high variance you'll have to likely play a few hundred of them just to see where your at and so variance can even out...on just a $7.58 roll I would recommend playing regular or turbo SNGs....I've heard knockout SNGs to be pretty soft....GL grinding

Fast structures are better suited to you if you have a naturally aggressive style. That's because it costs more to sit and wait for good starting hands.

As for playing $1.10 games with a $7.58 BR, the probability of going broke is obviously higher than if you had more. Otoh, it's only $7.58, which is an amount many people spend IRL while barely thinking about it if at all. It's up to you to decide if your small BR is important enough to you to apply solid BRM guidelines.

Superturbo= no time to maneuver skills.
turbo = middle between superturbo and regular. Here, you have time for skills but will run out if short stack at the latter stage.
regular = you have plenty of time to use all your skills.

Its your choice.

exactly what hffjd2000 said.
turbos/superturbos are a shovefest. If you understand position, blinds/stack ratio hand ranges, opening vs calling, and other basic poker concepts you can break even playing turbos but the players are generally just too good. the regular tournaments provide patient, highly skilled players with the opportunity to make deep runs and grind up chips.
the thing is, in turbos its just usually a bunch of shoves and flips. The problem is, poker players who win a lot of flips aren't actually good.
really good players almost always play the regular tourney's because they win hands WITHOUT showdown, they put in work and find spots. they dread showdowns and flips because that takes the skill element out of it.

huge volatilty, usually low roi potential, very math/icm oriented

great way to practice icm and hu play

also great for filling your screen if you dont feel like adding what could be a 4hr tourney

I play super turbo all the time only HU though and only at major site. Very profitable game but you have to know how to play it and only play at site where there's lots of traffic. I wouldn't recommend playing the 9 man and definitely wouldn't recommend playing HU super on bovada either, very little traffic. Good luck

As of this post, Bovada now has regular speed 9-man SNG's for $1.10 buy in. I've been playing the hyper turbos but started playing the regular speed games. My in the money percentage shot way up. The players in these games still play like its hyper turbo. Most of the time at least 2 players are eliminated before the 3rd blind level. Protect your stack early, but play some hands in position while you can afford it to try and get a nice chip up. If you play tight aggressive you will profit.

In my opinion SuperTurbo are waste of time as the most important is the LUCK factor ... I thing that it is suited for the most aggressive and bingo players who do not have that much poker knowledge as the are always AI in mostly every second round. But i would recommend that you ca try it and see yourself.

One more question your bankroll is just $7.58 BR ??? You crazy playing something with Buy-In of 1/7 of you Bankroll ??? If you wanna start seriously you should have at least $100 and then to play 1.10 Buy In poker or just go the FREEROLL way to build it up :)

Of course hyper and turbo SNG's don't give you time to show many skills its just matter of luck i think... But for a player without much free time you better play turbos than hyper turbos... For your BR the best possible type of poker to play is cash games for now .. that's what i can advise you : )

I really don't understand the idea behind super turbos. I have seen ones where everyone gets 300 in chips and blinds go up every 3-5 min. Its all luck, i mean whats the point. IMO They are a waste of time if your looking to make money. I always do the tournaments where you have a nice stack hopefully at 100 BB to start, and blinds go up every 12-20 min. thats how it should be IMO. Super turbos i just don't get. diminish's any chance for skill and makes them luck dependent. good luck

Ok, so it looks like most people on here are on the same page that these super turbos are all luck. But why do sites keep hosting them? Is it so they can slam as many tourneys in as possible allowing them to make more rake?

Sites host them because they end quickly which means more games can be played in a shorter space of time = more rake for them and also its for players who dont have much time to play and just want a quick game.

I don't like the super turbos, but some people do. It depends on if you like making quick decisions...I personally like to contemplate my folds.

This has been my experience on Bovada as well. I'm pretty new to online poker, but I've been reading up a ton and I've only half-jokingly thought about always-folding in the Bovada $1 + 0.10 SnGs at least once to see how it went.

So far I haven't worked up the nerve to do it, but I'd say about 80% of the time it would have gotten past half the field of ridiculous shoves.

Well, if you have a BR for 6 buy-ins, I don't think you should be even thinking about those. The variance is huge in these tourneys and you will be forced to play coinflips and 60/40s, so you'll need quite a bigger roll to withstand these swings.

I dont recomend them , the variance is incredible and even as a winning player you should expect very small roi.

Turbo and superturbo format are like playing bingo. You require more luck than skill .Chances are you will be blinded even before you could make any good moves.Just stick to the regular.

Hi,
With 7 times buy in sit and go tournament, it's really hard to not be busted and out of money.
Super turbo have the highest variance in SiT and Go , so you should play normal ones with buy in no more than 50 cent.
