I have seen so many people that will play 10 4o and hit both of them sometimes ending with full house or two pair I have seen where they play72o and win these are players that lose money and have a vpip of 65 and about playing lots of hands. What is your thoughts on these players? How do you play against them? What strategy do you use playing against them?

I play a lot of low stake tournaments and find these people all the time. Other than folding I haven't found a good strategy against them, because they could have anything. If i have two pair they will have a better two pair if i have a set they will have a better set. How do you play against a player that will play any two cards at any given time? Do you fold your good hands and just wait till you have the nuts? these guys are in the game till the end game and I only find tight players in the last 20 people playing. These guys I find hard to play against. Please share with me how you play against these guys. Or even a way i can learn to play against them thanks for taking the time to read this. Please respond with your thoughts

VPIP% above 44% is a whale also known as a huge fish that plays a statistically inappropriate amount of hands. While NLH can be played loose 28% to 40% VPIP% it makes the game much more difficult and requires much more reading skill. These players usually have nothing but I never bet less than 75% of pot against them. They can only hit two pair on flop 2% of time of which they lose 24% of time to higher pair by river...so do not worry much about two pair. A good LAG will usually play 28% to 35% VPIP%.

I enjoy playing against these players and letting them run into my power hands. YUMMY YUMMY whale players!

I am against such play tighter when they come and I have a strong hand then make a large reraise. Such players usually go limp in your standard re-raise 3 BB will always call, that I was less than I make re-raise 6-7 BB

I see them win all the time. A freeroll is a freeroll is a freeroll. Not much you can do about it.

Opening of all trades you will lose in the long run. Today I had 64os course I dropped. And the flop was 666 I was able to triple stack collecting a penalty. I dropped. It was right. Because often I will not collect a penalty. And if you gather a couple that I would have a bad kicker. It is unnecessary to pay attention to those moments when someone, or if you are lucky with a garbage hand. You have to make the right decisions that will help you win the tournament, not a single hand. You will not win a tournament if your decisions will be as lost in the long period.

Personally, I winn play pretty much any two cards. I'm not in it for the money since my entire game is low stakes and my bankroll has been from free rolls. Considering that in most low stakes games, everyone at one point or another also will play any hand, or will attempt to bluff on any missed hand, just means my game is trying to figure out when to stay in or when to fold.

Need to play vs this type of players how vs kids. Make big bet if you have the highest 2 pairs and etc. Don't bluff, play only with good hand.

With such players, it is worth playing tightly-aggressively, without bluffing, preferably isolating the rest of the players preflop for playing 1 on 1 post-flop.

move up in stakes to where they respect your raises? No seriously, we WANT these players in the game, we NEED these players in the game. Just tighten the belt a little bit, maybe bet a little bigger- but slow down and proceed with caution if they keep going because they obviously connected with the board somehow. Control the size of the pots and lose small pots, then win huge pots when you end up with a great hand and they have something like 2 pair they can''t let go of.

You have to switch your routine up. This happens at cash games at casinos. If you play AK all the time or face cards or PP then everyone at the table will know what you are playing with.

I would play as straight as i can against such players. Only good starting hand, only hit on the flop and no bluff.

My strategy for such cases is very simple. I try to play disciplined and I always wait patiently for strong cards. I am not interested in how bad my opponents play. I am interested in how well I play.

As always in NLHE it depends on your opponent.

There is many players out there that if they realize that a player plays too many hands will start raising but not tight enough and if they don't hit the flop they can't give up to top pair with a 4 kicker and lose by over bluffing.

you should adjust by playing tight basically 3bet everything in your range to iso the station and also be able to fold in the 3bet pot which is a huge leak of some TAG fishes!

you're right, someone is deliberately working that because he's been pushing for some previous tournament and tilt. you have to be patient .. and I noticed that on tournaments, pokerstars, precisely because when you have a pity from the whole table preflop if you play al and with AA AK kk QQ, one of them pays you and gets a hand with 78 92 ..too many loose players play ;)

In my experience the higher stakes also have a decent amount of, well, lets say a alot of gamblers.

I prefer to play against the more serious players too topic starter... cant stand to lose queens to J5 off...

Guess we need to remember that they will lose more in the long run....

you see it all the time in freerolls. usually they will play most starting hands and push whenever they hit the board. you usually see them accumulate chips in the beginning of a tournament and them bust before the money.

It's simple the optimal strategy to play against these types of loose players,
you have to be more tight and control the pot do not bet everything, the mistake i make sometimes is to flip all in pre-flop...
we have to see the flop turn and river and let it go if nothing happens, and especially do not risk all his stack, must manage his bets as an invesstisement on the stock market.

These players who go on any hand have not run too long in the tournament. Be patient to have a good hand and wait for the flop and make a re-raise ...

Yep, these numbers are solid!
As for whether their strategy (but I doubt all players are thinking strategy-wise) is good or not, it sort of depends. I will sometimes stab a lot with a wide range if players at my table are super tight, but in general, very high VPIP indicates a fish, which u want to see and crush with strong holdings!

p.s. I thought whale is a very rich guy at the table, instead of an oversized fish :)

You just have to consider the posibilities with the cards on the table. Think anout what combinations can be made. If you dont have one of the strongest, than don't call to their bets

This is one of the most frustrating things about online poker, especially when playing free rolls or very low state tournaments. It happens every day. Not much, you can do to avoid it because if a big donkey like that is going to get lucky. They're just going to get lucky sometimes. It happened to me twice tonight in two different tournaments, LOL. So frustrating. Usually I just quit playing after that and wait till another day.... It's particularly frustrating when then they laugh about it. After they knock you out with the worst crappiest hand. All you can do is ignore them and move on.:)

Its been said many times already, but here we go again. We want to play against people, who play way to many hands, because in the long run they cannot defy math. Their T4 offsuit will lose more often, than it win. And it will also offer the loose player reverse implied odds. Sometimes he hit a well disguised two pair or trips, but even those hands will not always be good, and more often he hit a second best pair, and he end up paying off. Its really just an ego thing. Because the other person play so bad, we feel, that we deserve to win every time. So even if we win 60% of the time, our expectations are still not met.
