Pre flop raise/post flop strategy.
The poker classic is a $550 buy in Main Event for Sunday April 15th.

I will be playing satellites all week to try And get a ticket into this tournament. Stage 1 is $18 (1 in 5 advance) Stage 2 is $65 (1 in 10 advance). Hopefully I won't have to play all week and I win one early on.

My strategy for this tournament of I were to get into it via satellite would be to play tight but aggressive in the early stages, just to build somewhat of a starting deepstack. I'm going to keep my range open and defend my premium hands. If things tend to get file towards the middle and end I will fall back and shorten my range to suited connectors or high premium hands.

I normally go deep in alot of tournaments but always fall short close to the money. The bubble as everyone calls it. I've won my share of some tournaments, but I've lost more coming close to winning than I lost outright from the gate.

If anyone has better strategy or just some tips on how to play this Main Event drop a line down below, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm confident in my game, always, but I'm also always opened minded to everyone's opinions and strategies.

I have played this a couple of times. In the early levels look to get your whole stack in with the nuts, you'd be amazed at how many people will call off w/o the nuts. I see a lot of overbet shoves in the 1st 3-4 levels that get called by inferior hands, some players just can't believe that they are beat.

Be very aware of stack sizes and pot-to-stack ratios. You can easily get trapped in a hand with incorrect bet sizing.

Take your time and think out spots where you have choices to raise or fold. Too many players act way too fast.

Pay attention to showdowns and make notes to what's being shown versus the preceding action.

Good Luck!! I won't be able to play this year.

Thanks Jilly! I'm excited to be playing this event. Well I'm not in yet, I'm playing satellites to get i to the main event. Which I'm confident in my game to actually say I'll be in that main event. There's 6 satellites between tomorrow and Friday so I can say one of them I will get in through. But don't get me wrong, I'll be all business even from the gate in the satellite, I'm there for 2 reasons. Number 1 is to get into the main event, and number 2 is to have a little fun and loosen up. Poker is a hobby for me, I would love to make it a full time job lol, if only I won a big main event like this one I would be able to do so. Thank you for wishing me luck, id hope to see you there at the end of this year for the Poker Classic! I believe it's in November and it's another $550 main event. Thanks for some of the strategy and advice also! Good Luck on the tables and hopefully I'll have the same!
