Hi,

When you're playing any MTT or SNG type game you might rely on the M ratio or the current BB levels to decide what action you will take or to what degree you should loosen the game. There's also the Q ratio which is less useful.

I personally use the M value (which you prob. know takes into account the SB, BB and antes) but having seen quite a few videos where the commentator just takes the BB into account to determine his SPR and therefore his further actions/degree of risk.

Now I wonder what do you tend to use and what are your thoughts about the reliability of the measure?

Personally, by using the M ratio I catch myself urging to be looser and shove more e.g. when in LP when folded to me. But that mostly gets me in trouble.

In contrast, if I just compare my stack to the BB only, it's another indicator but I'm not sure if it accounts fully for what shape I'm in relative to other players' stacks.

Thoughts welcomed :)

I start switching to M when the antes set in. Up to that point I am going off of BB. However, for me it isn't just a magic threshold that is passed and now I need to push with any moderate hand. I am looking for the right situation/player to push into.
