When should I just shove any card vs unopened or raised pre? I'm noob at tournaments so I don't really know. I had A7o vs raise and folded with 8-9bb's wich I guess is really bad. Thats why I made this thread.

5bb?10bb?15bb?20bb?

Not sure if I am the best one to offer up an opinion, sense I basically am relearning the game. Stoped playing after black Friday, and to be honest wasn't that great before hand. Now I am trying to get back in it. I do like the question though, its something I try and keep in my head when my stack starts getting low. When I get below 10bb, I usually try and shove it all in with any ace. Though this strategy is not getting me far. So I am going to be curious to some of the better players advice.

There are few hard and fast rules in this game, and as I'm sure you have repeatedly heard poker is circumstance based.

That said there are spots when short it is better to get it allin with suited connectors and there are spots when short where you have a potential edge due to lack of fold equity and a calling opponents range/stack.

When you get into late position with 5ish BBs you do want to be stuffing to try and steal; particularly if there are antes. If the villains you are stuffing into ie to your left stand to be crippled by snapping you off as well they will hvae an increased proclivity to fold a larger range. IE someone with 8-11 BBs in the SB or button much more likely to fold a hand they would stuff with in 2-3 hands.

Dont try nad get cute at this stage though, its a push fold game.

I feel antes are a huge part of short stacked later game play function as they add a great degree of dead equity to the pots.

with less than 10bb try to shove almost any hand
have in mind that its better when you bet all-in and not when you call someone else, even with a better hand

I start to shove at around 10BB with any decent hand. With 5BB I add a lot of hands to my push/fold range including any two cards over 9, any pair, any suited ace or king and some other lesser hands.

This pretty much sums up exactly how I do it too. And I wonder if it is the right way to act sometimes...

I guess position must play a role in this stratagem as well ?

Great advice tARshhttps://www.cardschat.com/members/tarsh/, one thing thought I am curious about. It seems to me that when we get into this position, that you are more likely to be called with any hand if you happen to be up against a larger stack. Especially if the chip leader is at the table. I think then it just becomes a matter of luck, cuz at this point your all in doesn't mean much, as you are likely to be called just for the simple fact that they don't have that much to lose, and are just as likely to hit with whatever they have in there hand.

10bb and below is the red/danger zone.

You have to prepare to go all-in anytime.

You have to consider many things though like position, table dynamics, opponents persona and yours likewise.

When you are with 5-6 BB or less just shove from late positions with a hand where you have a card higher than T) or suited cards or connectors.

Fold equity is high except the players on the blinds are chip leaders and they can afford losing that pot easily

It depends on the tournament. At some extreme cases like in hyper turbo tournaments, 3-4BB can be a big stack at final table. :) But normally around 10BB is the level when must be do something to survive.

If everyone else stack is 10-20 youre fine. Its more important you have fold equity and have a big enough stack that its going to do damage to others.

Many tourneys on bovada are pretty shallow deep in. Usually chip leader will have 30ish bb with the average being closer to 20.
