When I get below 10bb, I usually try and shove it all in with any ace. Though this strategy is not getting me far. So I am going to be curious to some of the better players advice.
There are few hard and fast rules in this game, and as I'm sure you have repeatedly heard poker is circumstance based.
That said there are spots when short it is better to get it allin with suited connectors and there are spots when short where you have a potential edge due to lack of fold equity and a calling opponents range/stack.
When you get into late position with 5ish BBs you do want to be stuffing to try and steal; particularly if there are antes. If the villains you are stuffing into ie to your left stand to be crippled by snapping you off as well they will hvae an increased proclivity to fold a larger range. IE someone with 8-11 BBs in the SB or button much more likely to fold a hand they would stuff with in 2-3 hands.
Dont try nad get cute at this stage though, its a push fold game.
I feel antes are a huge part of short stacked later game play function as they add a great degree of dead equity to the pots.
