Gosh, I get so confused against overbetters,
its when they preflop raise, then flop is 3 under cards, and they overbet the flop,
this happened to me and I guess i thought he was fluffing with such a bad flop and such a big bet,
I mean if he did have aa wouldn't he want value?
i went all in four 4x the raise
call
shows kk
darn it, i guess what would seem to be a bad move ended up being a perfect move on his part,
anyone have similar experience?

Conventionally, an overbet on the flop, usually on a draw-heavy flop, indicates that the bettor has a strong but vulnerable hand, such as Top Pair or an Overpair and is keen to drive out drawing hands.

However, a savvy player will also make this move sometimes with a monster, such as a flopped set or straight, or as a bluff when he missed the flop. You must use your judgement based on your observation of his tendencies to work out what is going on.

bad players generally don't like wagering a lot of chips unless they have a good reason, and not having anything isn't a good reason for a lot of players

True... 'but', there are many different types of fish (bad players)... many in micro buyins will often either cbet 'POT'... or donkbet 'POT' ,.. mashing the 'POT' button alot of the time with air.

i have been bitten a few times by this....also have exploited it more and got paid handsomely for it. all about knowing the player i guess. I got hurt when kinda knew to a talbe and paying back. but when sitting with guy for a bit, i usually win that battle.

Not only did you say exactly what I wanted to, you said it with (more than) likely better grammar.

There's no shortage of weak tight players at the micros, but generalizing from them to all players is something of a stretch. While there are many times when it's difficult or even impossible due to lack of sufficient experience with specific players, the key thing in this regard is to try to identify individual tendencies so you can have a stronger indication of who overbets with what types of hands.

Forgetting the pairs and draws...

If you have AK, AQ and the flop comes low after a big PF bet, wouldn't you feel that you're still ahead?

The big PF bet is prolly gonna get rid of anybody who may hit the flop. And you gotta feel you're up against a weaker A.

A small bet here will get you no info at all. NADA. Villians response to a big bet will tell you something.

I agree with ET. The over bet tends to be a move to protect a vulnerable hand on a drawy board. It can also be used against a tight player as a bluff when the blinds are small. If I flat an early raiser with TT and I have more than 50bb and the flop comes 8 6 2 rainbow or a flush draw and my opponent jams with about even stacks, Im probably gonna fold in most situations. Just not worth it. there will be better spots to get your chips in. But, if you dont think youre a better player then you should be willing to gamble most of the time.

I think over bets needs more on the villian and type of player you are dealing with.

You only tend to of seen another hand where he over bets and see what he actually holds.

I tend to find people overbet more with the nuts though.
