A lot of people hate this format, and a lot love them. It is a common format on all of the poker rooms and not just WSOP. You will find this kind of format for any guaranteed games from micro to high roller.

You can expect some looser players in the early stages. They want to build their stacks and will throw money at it to get it. Identify these people as early as possible, make a note of it.

You will want to play your good hands aggressively against them. Don't shove from earlier positions, coax them in and they will more than probably commit everything again. Expect more bad beats too, this goes without saying.

Don't try to bluff under any circumstances. bluffing will not work against the bingo rebuyers.

After you get out of the rebuy/addon period, these people forget how to play poker and tend to be in the same mindset -- this is when you can really take advantage of them and collect large pots.

Expect to rebuy/addon yourself. And why not. Right from the get go and on the very first hand, you can double your chips with an easy rebuy. Taking the extra chips from the add on too. Play tight during this period. As registration is nearing the end, you are going to get some crazy late comers, but now those stacks are severely short. Play poker, don't gamble.

In a perfect world it would only be $11. In reality he may spend more than that with the rebuys and addons. Just depends on how the game goes and what he is willing to invest in it.

Thank you all for the replies. I will be buying in for $22 ($11 for 4,000 chips). I will also be adding on after late reg closes $22 for 8,000 chips. So that would be $44 right there. I may buy back in, but by the time late reg closes (2.5 hours), the double rebuy for $8,000 chips is 10BB.

So I would most likely want to be in at $44-$88 for each one.

I appreciate all of the advice. I want to enjoy the game, play as well as I can, and have fun.

I think you are going to have to get lucky or you may end up unhappy. The reason this tournament is 22k GTD is because there is so many rebuys. It really does play like a freeroll. When I played in these I had 5 rebuys and 1 add on. Each rebuy was obviously a double rebuy. I really think you should be looking to spend about 120.00 for the tournament.

I would also consider entering late. I always preferred to get in them when the blinds get to at least 100bb (sit out the first 30 mins). This allows you to play for bigger pots. I personally would skip the first hour.

All in all, the main idea is to double through and add on. You want to have at least 24k at the end of the rebuy which should give you 20bb.

How ever you decide to approach the game, keep in mind, 10 min blinds live is certainly a turbo tournament, most likely more like a hyper turbo tournament online.

Let us know how it goes, best of luck.

Thank you for the advice. I am just planning on concentrating and doing my best. I know that it is not going to be easy. But I also know that you cannot do something if you do not believe you can do it. I know its possible. I'll certainly aim high. If I do end up losing $100, then that's part of the game.

So I won't be unhappy. I am probably more unhappy that the Knights lost! :D

My experience with rebuy/add-on tourneys is that I find myself falling for the "rebuy trap" as i like to call it.
If my bankroll allows it, I will play quite loose, knowing I can just rebuy and try again. Sometimes this pays off, but not usually.
My advice is to just play it like any other tourney, but keep in mind there will be people like me in the field. LOL
good luck

Came in 151st on Saturday and 250th or so on Sunday. Sunday felt more like bingo with the hands some people were going all in with. So I spent around $130 or so, but it was a lot of fun. Thanks for checking up.

There are 4 more... Saturday and Sunday this weekend and next. So we will see how it goes. I will probably do those too. I can't get better if I don't play :)

I am not sure about Saturday. I did come in 151st though.

Sunday there were 758 entrants and I came in 233rd.

For some reason the tournaments for these OC Special Events on WSOP do not show up on Poker Pro Labs.

The WSOP Client doesn't show completed tournaments for long and the tournament history just shows you your hands. Crap client!

Sounds confusing, like there are different rooms within the rooms. I am sure things will develop for the better. They just got to work out some kinks.

Pretty good turnout. Wonder if they came close to the guaranteed with rebuys/addons. Either way, sounds like fun.

I don't remember seeing that happen on Saturday, but Sunday's Prize Pool was over $32K

Thanks for wishing me good luck this weekend:top:

I came in 56th out of 409 on Saturday for $73.33. I think I put about $66 in. So a small win, but good experience. Here is the hand that knocked me out.

Tonight I placed 51/586 with a prize of $64.83. I paid $44 in rebuys and addons.

Last hand with under 10BB was AQ. A9 called and hit a straight.

To be fair, I should have been out a long time before that. I was all in with ATs against KK. I hit an A on the River.

All in all, a lot of fun. To boot, I did a $350 ($5 buy in $15 total (rebuy/addon) and placed 11/77 for $18.11.

Unfortunately, I placed 106/266 in a $15K freezout $50 buy in. Still great experience and fun this weekend.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun and didn't lose the farm playing. A couple of money places. Looking like a great start. Good luck next weekend.

Playing wsop is my dream:)

I am fortunate enough to live in Las Vegas. I am sure I could play in one of the many live events they have, but I have been doing the Online Championships since I live here. People in Delaware and New Jersey also can. Unfortunately it is limited to that.

However on the downside, there are generally less people on the site year round compared to others. MUCH less!
