Opinions on knockout tourneys

I want to know what you guys think about knockout tourneys?

For those who don't know, knockout tourneys award you money for every player you knock out. Of course, that means that the prize pool is smaller.

A good start for training and create initial bankroll.

I hate knockouts.

Aside from me always knocking out, the price structure is so deep.

I like these because it encourages aggressive play (which means you will often have people with less than premium hands putting their chips in the middle actively trying to knock you out).

I like KO tourneys, especially progressive KOs. Sometimes you dont need to get ITM to show up profit cos the bounty money. Plus it makes ppl play more loose.

Same as AtiFCOD. I find it great, because it is possible to recover you buy-in money just by playing, without making it to the money.

The prize pool might be smaller, but if you reach almost the end of the tourney, the KO bounty you won make the prize bigger.

These kinds of tourneys are really fun. Depending on how aggressive your opponents are you can get ahead fast, but on the other side of the coin you can get burned. If your site has them, do the heads up Knockout tourneys if you like that sort of thing.

depends on your style of play if you are a nit and find it difficult to adjust, then not the games for you. Prob best suited for Loose aggressive players

For me I like a Turbo KO because you don't have to go deep as long as you are picking up the head prizes. Much more of a gamble and although may not be for every1 liking. There certianly is a niche out there

Not a huge fan of the knockout games because I try to play pretty tight. I find that I am getting post flop action from all sorts of hands that would usually fold in a non-knockout setting.

love knockout tourneys when you get on a roll you can make a lot just in knockouts can make your buy in back and not even come close to the money

I love this tournaments.It helps you to create a nice bankroll.I play in this type of tournament everyday. As you can see in this pphoto, I eliminate 9 of 9!

Totally agree, i play sometimes progressive ko, and players are really playing loose to get you out, when you play tight and don't get bad beats, easely you can go for the top.


By the way very nice results chipsownerro , eiminate 9/9 players is not that easy

More money for knocking players out than make min cash or so. You have to finish last four tables to make some real money, so you have to risk more for the bountys. Its much more profitable to play for the knockouts. Very risky tournaments.

icm should usually be the driving factor, not chasing a bounty

Those are the tourneys I play for fun, even Im mostly loosing money.

i tend to play a little different. If I get my initial buy-in back from KOs I will play a wider range of hands and gamble more like its a freeroll. mainly with smaller buyin games tho

I absolutely enjoy these tournaments especially when you have a real jerk on your table and you get that prime opportunity to take him out and make money , I am all in .. !

I have enjoyed them as HU. But in regular format, I always seem to tend to be WAY too aggressive and bust from playing bad, going for the knockouts.

That's the part I personally don't like abt bounty tourneys. But I guess it's a personal approach.

I love these Things. Need more of em.

I love playing knockouts. I am currently playing ko tournaments on 888 poker where from 20 players only top 3 are paid. There are always some maniacs at the table that pay with any hand just to try to knockout someone. They are easy to beat but try to dont get frustrated if u get called with 27 and lose with your premium hand..

In my opinion knockouts is good when you want to change your style of game. It makes you play more agressivelly
