Personaly I really enjoy and trust these (at least at pokerstars).

Although often I find it strange that in one tourment you wi hit everything and in the next hit nothing, but ofcourse in real life do you find these same struggles.

There's no reason to discount any online poker site in their ability to provide a legit algorithm in randomizing cards and what hands you get, and what cards come on the board.

PokerStars for example has world wide notarity to be the world's biggest site. Considering that $90M was played for in the recent SCOOP, think of the money that they must be holding for their players right now.

Even if you consider that they have $1B in deposits - which I think it low - the money they make off of the interest is staggering. Even if they keep half liquid for cash outs, $500M would make tens of millions of dollars in pure interest a year, forget the rake they take on every cash hand and tournament.

No company would put that in jeopardy for a random card generator that was flawed. The class action lawsuits, the millions in lost revenue, the star power that their Team Pro holds, etc, etc, etc...

PokerStars is a cash machine for their owner. No one is that insane to tinker with that. So the ups and downs you might see are purely statistics in a silo.

Sure AJ v 88 might be a coin flip pre-flop, but a 95% advantage to the AJ that hit a J on the flop. 5% of the time it loses, and looking at three exits of a tournament in that scenario is not enough sample size to yield any conclusions about it being rigged.

Pokerstars brags about the sophisticated algorithm system in place, not sure if acr or black chip utilizes the same tech, don't think party poker does either

Poker is a game of chance and I feel like a big reason people don't trust these sites is bad luck or simply poor skill

Rivered sets are my favourite when all in on top pair but it happens. Again '76% is not 100%' Jcarver. We remember these since they tend to happen with all of our chips in the middle and the pop up you finished in whatever place. In stunned silence you stare at your beautiful AKs hit the A on the flop that drew an all in from big stack with 66. Rivered 6. Don't do the percentages on that one it makes it much worse. But this is our game find another lobby, dig into the bankroll and play next tourney. River magic works both ways...eventually. Enjoy the game!:D

I will say this. There is no way to program complete randomness. That being said, there are patterns you can pick up on in certain games on certain sites. Its always different with each site because their random card generator algorithm is going to be different for each site and for each game within the site. That DOES NOT mean you cant make money! It simply means there are going to be some patterns within the software, many call this "rigged" or basic "BS". I mean I will say this with the patterns generated its much harder to pick up on them in a MTT than it is a SNG or a Cash game. And since in MTT you are being paid on your overall finish and getting a ton of chips to play with to start the game and its much less luck and much more skill, you can persuade the chips in your favor usually regardless of the patterns in the software. Adding that and patience you can often find yourself in a good position to make more money in MTT than Cash or SNG imo. That is just accounting for the software patterns used, but if you are a better final table/sng player these could be more profitabl, or the Cash game if you are good at manipulating other players and you are playing high enough stakes to actually get a player to fold. I do think if the cards are always placed face-up there would be a lot of breakeven amongst the software algorithms generated. This is basically my opinion, but being as there is no such thing as complete randomness, you can conclude that I'd have to be at least partially correct in my assumption of patterns (plus if you play enough they are easy to spot, some sites favor Low pairs, some favor Suited connectors, Some favor AK). In any case if you are a great poker player it isn't going to matter if there are patterns or not, You are going to be profitable online or live. Personally, I'm much better live but thats because my strength is in reading my opponents, not so much in persuading my opponents. So if you dont have a great "poker face" or get nervous or have "tells" online may be more profitable for you especially if you are better at persuading players. Those are my concerns/opinions on the subject of trusting online poker. Gl in future events.

Not all online tournaments are the same. the more recognized as Pokerstars and former FTP do have a very solid random card generator. The ACR, Betonline etc. I am not so sure about. :jd4:

you have to trust the software is more live I have spent craziest things that playing online there are people talking about patterns and many other good things is almost impossible to even have a pattern this algorithm that is also sometimes statistics we always have to AA win but it is not so

"There is no way to program complete randomness". That's why they call them "pseudorandom numbers" -- not because they aren't random, but because if you knew the algorithm you could potentially predict every number that will come up. A half way decent RNG won't have a bias that favors some numbers over others.

As for random, take 100 3x5 index cards, write 1, 2, 3, 4, ... on each one, take the pack and throw it as high as you can during a hurricane, then send forth an army of blind men to pick them up. There's always the possibility that you thumb through the cards and find the sequence: 1, 2, 3, 4, ... The probability of that is: P(r)= 1/100! Not too damn likely, but possible, and as random as any other sequence.

As for how random, I suspect the RNG used on poker sites is more randomized than a deck of actual cards that are shuffled physically by fat-fingered players in home games as the deck is passed around the kitchen table.

"That being said, there are patterns you can pick up on in certain games on certain sites".

There are "patterns" you can pick up at the roulette table, the Crap table, Keno lounge, &c, &c, &c. Suckers lose $MILLIONS every year because of this foolishness, and this remains the basis of many a sucker system. You don't think the casino would be so thoughtful as to provide those hand tracking cards, and the two color pens, at baccarat if there was any chance this would hurt their bottom line, do you? Those cards, and the electronic scoreboards above every Roulette table are there to pander to superstitious gamblers who "think" they can outsmart a series of random independent events. Short of doing something that'll land you in prison, there isn't a damn thing you can do about -EV bets besides losing your 'roll sooner or later, and more likely sooner.

Seeking purpose where there is only process is chasing after phantasms.Concentrate on playing solid Poker and let the fishies go on believing that the whole site is specifically rigged against them. Show me someone who says on-line Poker is rigged and I'll show you a fish.

it's a non-sense to discuss about random system because if you lose...someone else wins, there¿s always a pot that someone has to take. the problem would be if the site creates bots that always wins.

If you trust the online tournaments at least those of pokerstar that is where I play, it is true that we often have Bad Beat but a matter of variance and how we perform in MTT...
