Here's the hand that did for me two off the bubble in a $8 360 person tourney. I won't say for now which is my hand, just to keep it interesting. Both players have roughly equal stacks at t10,000 and blinds are t1000. I'm fairly new to the table so no reads.

Folds to SB who calls with 9dJh7d8c
BB checks with 2h3s5h4h

Pot is t2,000

Flop: 2d 3d 9c

SB bets t2,000. BB raises all in. SB calls.

So, which player would you rather be here? Which one am I? Could/should I have got away from the hand? And who played the hand better?

I'll let you know what happened when I get a few responses.

Firstly I would rather be the BB, with the best made hand. Not sure which one you are. Not too keen on the SB all in call as he has the button next & another orbit of the table to hang on for the start of the payouts. Both equal short stacked so I can see why both players did what they did and prob the maths are right for both players but think I might have folded to the all in on the bubble.

I can imagine the diamond came on the turn or river to make the SB flush, thats the way my luck would've went if I was the BB in this situation.

Is this Pot Limit Omaha Hi? I'm assuming Omaha Hi, but if so then BB raising all in on flop means he only had <t5,000 chips before the hand, no? In any case:

SB in this hand actually is about 58% favorite to win after the flop, due to diamond draw + bigger runner runner straight draw + bigger two pair or trips if he hits any cards in his hand. BB's hand is made with two pair and has open ended straight draw, so it is also no slouch in this spot.

I think if this is a normal tournament payout structure and I am playing with proper bankroll management, the hand played out as it should have. Honestly, if I'm on either side of the hand I'm happy to get it in there. After potting on the flop, I'm never folding this as SB. As BB, the only way I would fold would be if payout structure is almost completely flat and it looks as if folding the rest of the way may allow me to make it ITM.

So to summarize, SB and BB both played it fine. I would rather be SB in this hand. The only reasonable fold would be from BB, and that would ONLY be if he thinks he can fold his way ITM.

Yes, PLO Hi. payout structure is normal and not flat. As you suggest the stacks must have been a bit lower than the 10k I stated as BB can only put in t6k.
