Blinds were 800/400. I was in about 90th place out of 200. 50th and better made the money. Blinds increased every 8 minutes.

I had AK os in a freeroll in small blind and 7900 chips (less the 800 from being small blind, so 7100 or less than 9X BB and less than 8.5X BB after I get small blind. One person raised to 1600. Two others called before action got to me (all three had more chips than me). Pot was now 5,600. I pushed all in (reasoning that if everyone folded, I get 5,600 chips and unless someone has AA or KK I am not totally dominated. Also, I'd rather leave by busting out instead of getting blinded out).

Regardless of the outcome, was that an okay play? Or was the correct play in that situation to just call the 800?

I think, but i would do the same, thinking of getting some small pairs out of game and maximize your chances. In your situation, it was good play and regardless of their stacks, your was in this game >10BB so preflop shove with AK is good move. Btw did you win?

Very standard play. Nothing wrong with it at all. Win or lose

I think the play was ok...you had effectively 10 bb and AK is a monster in that situation. You were also getting great value.

This is the only play you can make - it would be bad to call/fold with around 10bbs. So, good play.

2 players called my all in. One had A4 Diamonds. The other had pocket 7's.

Flop was something like 9c 6c 4h. Turn was a 7. River was a 7.

I lost.

It was the better move. you had a short stack so anything like your hand should go all in. No question. If they fold you get a nice pot. if they call you still have a nice chance to win. Nice move

I think it was a good move...you have some fold equity, and you get to see all 5 cards. Not to mention AK could have a caller crushed there

I think you played the hand right. Even if nobody calles you win enough money and if somebody does call you are 90% favourite to win the hand. I think you made the right play.

As many say it was a standard action, a move to be made... but personally I wouldnt risk to go all in with 3 more players in the hand, specially if they have bigger stacks.
AK is a good hand, but its better with the fewer players you play... going against 3 more players lowers the chances of winning...
At the end there were 2 more players in the hand... bad luck.

when playing a tournament you have to think about risk and reward, you have got 10BB, you have the best drawing hand you can get, you need a double up, so all the players that say "they had a bigger stack so was risky" well thats nonsense, you need the double up, yes its risky, but your looking for the hand that can double you up or in this instance treble you up, unfortunately he held one of your outs which means your actually about a 40% chance of hitting, but in the times you do hit and he doesnt hit his set you treble up, this exactly what is needed, really with the ammount in the hand they had the right odds to call, (except the A 5s he should know he is dominated) and be happy with the race cus thats what you needed and unfortunately this time you didnt get it, but think of the times when you do get it

less than 10bb and shoving is ok, and plus, bigger stack may pay with weaker hands, making your play even more valueable. Good move

From my own experience - it is very good play if you are mostly lucky to get a over-pair or better but for guys like myself it isn't good play at all because only 2 out of 10 cases you get something better than one pair and there can still be guy that called all in with 99, 66 or better and if he hits flop he can easily get you out of the game..

I think that this was a very correct play. You had less than 10BB so the only move for this hand was to go all-in. Even if you lose in this hand your move was very right move.

lol what? You are never a 90% favorite with AK. The best you can hope for is someone with a dominated A or K which will make you a 75% favorite.

With your stack this play was right. if you had more chips all in wouldnt be a good move, but now everything is okay

It's a pretty easy shove, but thinking that there was much chance of everyone folding was rather optimistic. As the two calls demonstrated, you're going to get called fairly wide in this type of situation.

Nothing ventured nothing gained. You had to make that play, the only right thing to do.
