This hand actually occurred a couple of weeks ago at an HPT event. I’ve been a little reluctant to post it for personal security concerns, but here we go!
This hand occurred with blinds at 1K and 2K and a 100 chip ante. My stack is around 75K from the button; my opponent has around 40K from UTG +1.
My opponent opens the action with a raise to 6K and everyone folds to me, I call with red 66 and both the blinds call as well. Flop is 8c 7c 6c and everyone checks to me. I bet 13K, both the blinds fold and the player from UTG calls. The river is Jc and my opponent checks as do I. The river is the Jh and my opponent verbalizes all-in.
What do you think? Obviously I thought about folding but finally made the call for around 35K.
Now this is the funny part. I said call; in fact I said it several times with no reaction from my opponent. He has sunglasses on and just keeps staring me down as I attempt to explain that he must flip his hand over. Finally it reaches a point where I said “No habla ingles?” legitimately worried that this guy didn’t speak English – no response, total time elapsed is now about 2 minutes. I finally said “We’ll wait on you!” and put a chip on my cards.
The dealer had done all she could do and finally called the floor who subsequently does the same thing and tries to explain that cards must now be shown at showdown. He finally gets a reaction from the guy when he tried to move his hand off his cards as the guy jerked his hand back over the cards. The floor man (His name is Joey) was just about ready to get a second opinion and floor person when I called a clock. Joey looked at me like “good idea” and said the standard “Sir you have 60 seconds to act or you hand will be declared dead.” Joey counted the final 10 seconds down out loud, paused at 4 seconds, moved in front of his field of view and counted the last three seconds down while visual showing 3,2,1 with his fingers. He finally declared the hand dead after the count was complete.
I threw my cards in the muck and the dealer started collecting the muck pile when this guy finally flips over 88 and says “what do you have?” I very politely replied “&*^% if I know, they’re in the muck now” and he looked at me with a confused look on his face. Then the dealer reached into his stack, two fists at a time, and started pulling all his chips my way – that’s when he lost it!
Luckily the floor man had already had the presence of mind to call security and they were on him nearly instantaneously. They literally drug him out of the casino kicking and screaming. One of the things I heard him scream was “I want my $1600 back bi*&^”.
Wow, like I said I have been a little reluctant to post this one because I don’t want this guy to whack me with a sniper rifle – but WTF! Would you even believe this could happen?
