I would like to collect information about the leagues you play down the pub.

I would like to know how much you pay to play poker.

How much of the amount you pay goes towards the prizepool for the evening.

If there is a league finals game, how many weeks in your season and what are the prizes?

For example

$5 to play, $5 addon at the start, only $5 goes towards the nightly prizepool. The other $5 goes towards "costs" and the finals.

$5 addon at break, Again towards costs and not the prizepool.

12 weeks season, at the finals game top 40 across the league and top 5 from each venue roughly 55 players maybe?, $10 addon at the start. Finals prizes are 1st $1000, 2nd $300, 3rd $150 4th $75 5th $50

League runs across 6 venues for 12 weeks

Especially interested if playin in NZ/Australia.

Many thanks

The subject of your post is nothing like you are actually asking.

I do play free rolls at the pub - they are free rolls so it costs nothing. There are quarterly shoot out free rolls with $200 to the winner.

Single venue - mostly a bunch of retired guys and gals who would be too scared to plop a couple hundred down and play at the casino. Great place to work on becoming a lag and on reading tells.

I think you want to know more about multi-venue league play. Might want to Google WPTAPL for some ideas.

I play 2 live games, on alternate Thursdays (Welwyn Garden City and Ware if anyone wants to come and join in). One is £25 and the other £30. Usually around 30 runners, with most going to prize pools and minimum going to costs. Run a 12 week season, top 10 then playing a "champions table" game freezeout with some money added to the prizepool.
Its done as a social thing, for reasonable money, and for me it isnt about the money its the fun, banter, live social experience and making it to the champions table.

I used to play every Tuesday at a local pub. Completely free. Usually gift certificates to the top finishers. Another one that I used to play at had a points system where your finishes over 6 months qualified you for a freeroll that paid cash - and even wsop stakes. Then the bar closed down.

There have been a few "card clubs" popping up around town, but they are mostly low buy-in ($30-40) MTT's. No freerolls.

Point taken, it was a bit tongue in cheek.
Perhaps a mod could change title to " Do you play in Poker leagues in your home towns?"

There's a monthly tournament here in town I live in (pop. 7,500) that has about 100 runners, buyin is $100 (sometimes $75). My neighbour organizes, provides all equip./supplies, has dealer 'volunteer', a min. amount of total prizepool is donated to charity (to make it legal to run it).
Also a couple SNG's (18 player) $25 buyin, 2x/wk. (< I rarely go to that one)
There's an underground club that runs a cashgame (1/2). Game running 5nights/wk.

There's no games running in bars/pubs here. Used to be one over in neighbouring town (Freeroll) - 'Big Slick' league. (Brad Booth was sponsored/associated with it on some level).

Our leagues have the option to play for free. If you play for free you play for points only. If you want to buyin then its $5 to the prizepool, seperate from the $5 addons available. In Wellington (capital of NZ) I played a freeroll that has $10 rebuys. At Christchurch casino there are freerolls with money rebuys that are satellites to future tourneys so if youre on the "cant be a freeroll if you pay" tip...... adjust.

Im really interested in the logistics of multi venue leagues, perhaps its popular here but not elsewhere.

I have quiet a bit of live MTT experience at my citys casino. Most of the older people who play are weak tight pushovers who are easy to bluff. While the younger players are hyper aggresive lagtards who will call you down preflop with 6,3 of suit against your ace king suited of diamonds and flop 2 pair against your 1 pair and redraw to the the nutz and duck 15 outs to win.
