Notes act as reminders. They should not really be used to note the way they play a particular spot, unless you see them play that certain spot multiple times.

Instead try to note general stuff that gives you are overview of the opponants tendancies.

So if you have a guy who tends to bluff in a lot of differant spots, simply just note he's capable of bluffs.

If he only plays calls or bets with good hands and never bluffs, simply note "honest".

So basically you are noting things in shorthand so you know the type of opponant you face.

If you wanted to get more specific, i would get into HEM and do a detailed analysis of how he plays postflop, preflop etc. So if you view his hands and you notice he tends to bluff catch alot, you can note that and use it in game.

But overall you don't want to be cramming useless or semi useless info in your notes, it's hard to use it in game, and people will change the way they play a certain spot alot of the time.

Lastly, make sure you note when you took the notes (im pretty sure stars does this now automatically) and if your notes are old and you see some differant type plays, you need to disregard your notes until you form new reads.

Since you are playing STT, try not to note too many random players unless you see them in multiple games, you can simply color code bad players and go from there without taking time consuming notes because the chances are that you will never see them again and thus the notes you take will be next to useless.

Color coding by player types is a really great way to quickly mark bad/good players, you can do this simply, or you can do it into more specific colors like loose/aggressive tight/passive color codes etc. This also serves as a really great way to table select.

I used to mark bad players green and good players red, so i knew to either join or not join a particular game.

hope this helps

colour coding is a great help when you can, as looking at a table you can immediately identify the good players and remember who are the players who are very loose.
Note taking can help, particularly if you find a player who always raises (and is just a bluff type player) before and after flops.

I'd say the color coding is more important then the notes some of he time, that way u can glance and make ur choice, playing online you are involved in so many hands unless someone's screen name is memorable half the time u just forget them and won't remember the name

On small stakes players have no style. Their game depends on the mood, so and to remember them no sense

Notes are good but since we play such a circumstance based game they can become toxic since rarely will somebody be in the same spot that you had them in when you made the note. It is good to keep track of wonky stuff from opponents but don't become to dependant on them. If you want to track tendencies use a HUD so you can focus on the table instead of typing notes and review after your session.

You should not note every single habit oder action because the play often depends on the opponent constellation!

I suggest to note only special oder favorite moves of a player or working with colors categories

do not take notes of any player since you probably will not find it again in a tournament and remeber that plays very different depending on where in the tournament we are, we tournaments large amount of participants

I completely disagree. Well not quite 100% as I'd likely be noting 'you' this way (on account of hearing what you think about all others).

should not be notetaking by yourself. first its really really time consuming espically online poker where its more fast paced when you can just get notecaddy which is the best notes ever and can even replay the hands and has a weak to strength graph on how they played that

yeah if they have no idea, just note "no idea" and just play at a level 1, which is your cards, vs what they have, pretty simple stuff really.

Note caddy is a really useful thing for games like STT where you can get notecaddy information over multiple spots. But you have to really know how to set it up to get the most out of it. Things like "alpha HUD" will help you if you don't want to get setup. however notecaddy in mtt is as useless as taking too many notes, it will save you time, but you will end up with useless information that proabably helps you make bad decicions.

Example.

Note caddy will tell you things like, this player has 3bet 2/3 times from the BB, sometimes people will take that as we should never raise them from the BB beacuse they are too loose, when in reality they have had only 3 chance to make a decision like that, and it's very likely to be highly skewed data.

basically put, the more data you have, the more likely it is to be skewed. The more simple the data you have, like things like vpip/pfr etc, the less likely it is to be skewed and you can form assumptions based on those simple things rather than gathering ****tons of worthless data that does nothing but help you make incorrect assumptions or decisions about opponants.

rant over..
