Hi all,

I,ve just recently started playing poker and have been having varied success playing double or nothings, but i recently started playing MTT and have been doing ok but i always seem to F**k up right at the end when it matters, either by making bad calls or when i do get beat pushing all in with marginal hands panicking when my stack shrinks.

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to improve my game on final tables or when i'm in the money as it seems everyone changes there play style and it throws me off.

I have a hand history from last night when i finished third in a bounty but i think towards to end i started to mess up, at one point i was chip leader with not many players left, if someone has a spare 5 mins to have a look through and give me some advice?

cheers

Dean

First of all,Hello and welcome to the forum :) .You play large mtt`s? Like 2k players or 400/500? If is a large field, then don`t play bad hands and use position as much as you can. From what u say,I think that you are pretty good if u reach after the bubble, then after the bubble with a pretty strong hand (if u are low stack) try to shove. After bubble nobody tank anymore.Tell me if u play 0,55$ mtt`s or which.Have a good day!

Hi there,

thanks for the reply, ye i try and use position and at the beginning of the MTT i only play in position with good cards and only play top cards out of position, and i do ok playing patiently it's when the blinds increase and and players become irrational and i cant put them on a range because they call so wide, i do try and keep tabs on their play patterns, i have played a few MTT large fields and finished twice in the money 9th and 11th i think ive been having decent success with DON's then i played a small field MTT on PKR but screwed up at the end i don't know if my play was as bad as i think or it was just bad luck.

Either way im just gonna plod on hoping to improve

Man, something that I am trying.. THINK on the consequences of your actions. If I do X what would vilain do? If he does X what would I do..

Also, learn to fold great hands.. No one keeps dropping the hammer and getting called for a Bluf!

Hi DeanoRN and welcome to Cardschat. For one thing, you already know what the problem is, so you have to fix it. The next MTT you play and get to the point you are having the problem, keep in mind what's happened and play differently. Don't make those bad calls, don't shove all in AT ALL unless you are forced, don't panic. I've seen many players come back with very few chips, because they road it out.
I think you are trying to hard to read other players, instead of paying more attention to your cards and the board. The fact is that I could care less how the players at my table are playing. So just try to keep focused on what you do and why you are doing it. One last thing. Put all this stuff behind you and start new. GL to you

Hi DeanoRN, you will always took an advices here! Pretty good welcomes and helpful advices from the members here. Im sure you gonna like this community even more with the time.
So for your question, i can say only for improving your skills, just play as much tables as you can get and feel comfortable. For me is 2-3 tables at a time.
Also you have to give your best to every game you play and you will get some results for sure! Then learn from your mistakes and gain experience that will make you proud of what you archieve.
I hope i was helpful, have a nice time spent here!

So many layers of strategy for mtts....until you understand different strategies and how to incorporate them into your game, remember, keep it simple.
