Hey guys,
full tilt poker recently added a new type of MTT into its software. It is called Flipout and it's basically a mixture of flip tourney (gamble) and regular tourney. In the first stage, all players are all-in and the winners from each table get through to the second stage (where everyone is ITM already) and then it is played normally.
I've been wondering whether to give it a go or not. I'll probably try few of them just for fun. I guess it's rather gamble but still, when I think it through, it doesn't have to be that bad..Statistically, you are going to win your all-in shootout in one out of nine times (in 9max) but then you are going to compete againts probably quite poor (random) competition and so you have a decent chance to win whole thing.
What are your thoughts about this? Does anyone have some experience with these tourneys yet?

I'm honestly not a fan "at all" of all these luck box games they're adding. It's going to take fish away from the other games where they're easy money, and after they go busto, it'll discourage them from buying in again. It's starting to feel like all the silliness that partypoker has.

isn't it not any different to registering for most tournaments these days where alot of people go all in first hand
i think if your lucky enough to survive the all in phase it could be profitable with just one table left of average players

Thankfully I'm self excluded from there as these would probably eat my roll pretty damn fast!

As innovative as FTP I don't think I'd "like" this format too much

Played a couple, think a 2.20 game and a 55cent game and didn't make the money in the 2.20 but did in the 55 cent (had 2 entries, 1 got there) and i took 3rd or 4th to pretty much break even on the flip outs.

Havn't decided if I like these or not yet tbh, takes a lot of luck to make it through the flip rounds but all the same its an even situation I guess, and you could wind up in the money with a bunch of still no good players so perhaps this is where the advantage/edge comes in for good players to play them. (I mean often takes a bit of luck to get in the money in a standard format game, just a lot more in these), but when you do get ITM then you likely stand a good chance of a great cash for a couple of reasons.

1. stacks are all reletively even and deep
2. you are likely up against worse players than you would be once in the money for a regular tourney.

On the downside obv huge variance and you are only now once past the flips going to start gaining information on the opponents which by now in a regular game you would have had a decent amount of info on at least some of them.

If its a flip till the money then when you reach the money no it wont all be normal competent good players itll be the same as when the tourney began.
