On the hands you bust out on, how are you playing them? Just walk us through a scenario...

you're NOT ALONE))) but seriously take a sample of tournaments with far fewer participants in the CAP example(100) (250) (500) (1000).

Have to know, live is totally different from online play.

One more thing, you are not alone.

As long as you get your chips in with the best hand you are doing fine. The luck evens out over the long run.

It`s a bit easier to stomach a beat online. At least you can swear. In a live cardroom, you have to hold it in and walk away from the table with dignity.

How`s this for a coincidence - in the few minutes I have been typing this, I just got busted out of a tournament when some guy`s JJ beat my KK, all-in pre-flop.

It just happens like that, you have to be patient. It's hard to win MTT's

MTT's are the hardest form of poker, especially if you aren't a pro. You're gonna have to win flips, you're gonna have to hold in spots where you have an edge and get lucky in spots you're behind. Variance is a big thing. However, you're still going to be making a ton of mistakes. Just remember to always try to improve and view hand histories.

I think you just need to keep hammering away, I tell you, it took me years before I was even cashing in online MTTs. There are nuances and tactics to each form of poker live/online, cash/MTTs, sng/hu and so on.

I stick with mtts or sngs for the most part because over time I am starting to see the little things and I am more versed in the tournament format then cash, I keep trying cash and keep losing overall. The hardest thing ( for cash players ) trying MTTs is your cash poker skills are still ingrained and most people revert back to playing the way they know the best.

You have to rewire and be able to split the two formats. Most players cash games start to suffer when they try to learn MTTs and vise versa...

2 words. Mass-multitable...This will destroy negative variance if you're a decent player...

I feel your pain! I was bubblegirl yesterday :( And I feel like that even puts some extra pressure on todays games as I sure as hell dont want that happening again today!!
Each time I register for an MTT I try to remind myself to be mentally prepared for a 6 hour game! Nothing worse than getting 5 mins into a new game and realising you shouldnt have due to tiredness, boredom, lack of concentration etc
Once you are playing your hands well, I wouldnt worry about busting out! It happens to us all too often! :D Just take some satisfaction from knowing you played well, the cards just didnt go your way.
If you are aware of mistakes you made throughout the game (& if your like me your brain keeps replaying them over & over) try to identify your weak spots and put some study in for those areas!
If the variance is coming from dropping cash and not binking, then maybe try moving down a stake level so it doesnt feel like such a major hit when you dont place. If your only losing 1 buy-in out of, lets say 100, then you know you have plenty more opportunities and the variance wont hit as hard.
Best of luck, hope you bink soon (& me too :) )
