I want to particularly focus on Lower buy in style tournaments and structures usually with average stack between 22-30BB at about say through 66% of the fields when u get to about a double up or two away from the bubble.

Please discuss any theories, strategies, styles u will play at this period of a tournament.

Reason for this thread is I feel I would benefit from discussing about this topic here. This is my first post on CardsChat without replying to one or only talking about hands and stuff :).

But I feel as if my game is solid, consistent profit when i play volumes of micro cash games, and ive had very nice Mtt stats too when i used to play on Stars. I want to have higher finish percentages in my games by mastering the ultimate optimal poker. As I play plenty of highish value freerolls, I want to consistently make FTs like 5% of freerolls over time, as I generally have extremely strong FT skills, probly take it down 50% of the time if blind structure is fairly slow. Possibly bust before half way thru the field in freerolls 10% of the time because of variance. Because i will be in spots putting in lots of chips trying to bluff when possible in micros, and get very very big value with a LAG style but a bit tighter with hand selection, more so im aggressive when i need to be in situations. Everything talked about everyone can always benefit from It's nice to hear about others! And what runs through ur sick brains when playing in these stages lol. Its usually the stage I BLAST the table or go bust.

The first advice that comes to mind is to track your actual results. For example, you think you win 50% of the final tables you make it to. Do you have any data to back this up? If it's true over a decent sample size, great. But frankly, it's more likely that you don't do that well. If so, better to know it than to continue having a false impression.

Well, i dont track my data, other than check sharkscope. usually my avg field beat % is 60% or so on most sites but its much higher on carbon. And yeea thats the prob lol i dont make many FTs cuz im so aggressive, But when i do i do well. Just from the final tables i recorded on stars, 14 Fts in 55c trnys only 500+ fields. unless its unnder a 500 cap. I won 6-14 of them :). one 2nd place finish. And 5 8-9th place finishes. So I tend to get flattened when entering but i think what helps is for some reason i flip very good at final tables, Sometimes i get to aggressive going in and thats prob why i bust, but at the same time i win flips like 70% of the time lol.

If i am at the bubble position with a medium stack (15Bbs) I play it normally. With calm, waiting for a nice hand and a nice spot. If i am short stack i play same way if i was't at bubble position, shoving with big hands.

You always want to play your stack with respect to the tables dynamics (loose/tight) and your risk of ruin (blinds and ante). You should be worried less about your game theory play and more about the math aspect in tournaments IMO because you're never really THAT comfortable with 22-30 BBs.

Thanks for the replies guys, nice to hear from more also! I am referring to bit earlier than the bubble, i find its the most opportune time to figure out how ur gonna play the tournament until the bubble. I agree u cant worry about theories as its mostly pre flop and the math is important.
