There's no one right answer as to how you should play AJ. You would be better off posting a specific hand to discuss.

Your play should depend heavily on the table dynamic as well. If you're at a very aggressive table with lots of 3-betting you can consider just folding AJ from EP.

MTT playing with AJ is simple for me. In any round I will raise with this hand to test the waters before the flop. If a player comes over the top of my raise I will fold because most likely I am behind. If a player just calls my raise before the flop I always proceed with caution not to get in any trouble going forward with the hand.

Its all depends on phase of the tournament and your stack. For example, if you under 10 bb ,shoving should be only the way regardless of position. If it early stage of tournament you should raise unraised pot or flat raised pot, also could choose to flat or fold to 3bet depends on table dynamic..

i will most likely fold in EP (unless i hold under 13bb - in that case its a push) - because i hate playing AJ oop (A is dominated way to often by AK, AQ and the single J is hard to play oop as well)

in mid position - fold to a raise (most likely you are dominated by a raise from early position or flip against a pair + the possibility of a squeeze), open it up if there is no raise.

late positon - open it up, and call a raise from a player who you think there is an edge postflop

AJ is tricky hand, i think you have to be aware of the table dynamics, the players profile (tag, lag...) and your kicker. in early and middle position i play only AJs, if there's a 3bet i just call and see the flop. in late position if there's no raise i make it 2.5-3 bb with A9s+, AJo+

If you have a good stack you can open raise if nobody raised before you. I'm not confortable with AJ so when someone raise before me i fold(if that player is not a fish who could play A3 or other hands). If you have around 10BB you can shove AJ. In early position i fold AJ instantly. Too many times you are raised or called by better hands.
