After a tournament, I always go through the hand replayer and look for my leaks.

I'm trying to work on my HUD stats in my tournament play.

I don't (yet) have HEM or PT. For now, I'm using Carbon's HUD, as that is the main site where I play.

After 177 hands, here are my stats for a league tournament.

I know that is a small sample size, and I have plans on upgrading to a better HUD application, but I'm taking it a step at a time.

I would say that this was a fairly typical tournament for me.

I feel like I have a fairly good handle on VPI, PFR, and AF.. but which of the others should I be looking at next in order to pick up my game?

VP: 17

PFR: 11

AF: 2.2

WSD | W: 21 | 69

STL | F: 29 | 63

(I just enabled 3Bet | F)

Thanks for any feedback!

it's got nothing to do with "improving stats". what i'd be looking to do, is improve thought processes.

So if you post a hand, put in your thought process for that hand, and hopefully someone will come and correct it, or perhaps give you a different angle. these stats tell us nothing apart from you play relatively tight, and you call a bit, most likely defeding from the blinds or limping.

You could improve those stats to like a 23/21, with a 5% 3bet and 4% AF, but it won't help you much, you'd just be playing too loose and would likely lose chips in spots you shouldn't, or not extract value where you should.

So basically, don't worry about your stats, and when you review a game, focus on the thought process behind you decision. The action decision in the hand itself depends on your thought process.

Basically.

thought process affects your decsions, which affects your Results. Get the bolded part correct and the other two will take care of themselves.

Lightbulb. Wizz, that's great advice. I'm looking at it backwards, for the same reason that you guys keep saying not to be results-oriented.

Ok, got it.

Thanks Wizz for being an amazing help!

vp looks good..pfr is abit too low in relation to vp imo...looks like you are limping in with small pockets and KQ/QJ/AT type hands and raising the 2/3rds of your entire pre flop range..AF is also on the low side..maybe 3/3.5 would be better..but yer vp is solid for the games we play i think..going any higher than that will just put you in a lot of marginal decisions post flop against a straight forward thinking 'cc freeroll' and micro games < assuming you play micro and just for fun...you could be a balla for all i know grizz and a high stakes roller :)

if you've updated your HUD then add things like, 3bet/fold to 3bet/4bet/flopcbet/fold to flop cbet/turn cbet/fold to turn cbet. and RFI from all positions..'raise first in' <good one to use...even if its just on popup..

oooooh and steal from btn/sb and fold to steal and resteal...plenty stats to be thinking about man and im sure you've progressed in that regard, since this thread is older than the dinosaurs :)

Its very small size hands for analyze , though that amount hands, I can say you're a passive , you need to increase your PFR...
