Evening ladies and gentlemen.

I was hoping to open up a conversation about the specific stages of MTT's

Now I am more than capable of distinguishing between the early, middle, late and FT stages of the game. But was wondering if you guys could share some tips on each stage.

I seem to struggle most with the early stages. With such a large amount of players shoving every Ax they get it makes my hand selection difficult. and I tend to not be able to keep up with the blinds.

Thanks for any input you guys might have.

Yes, I agree. Play tight and agressive and be calm if you don't get good hands during the first few rounds.

I have different approach. I try to play aggressive at the beggining. Since you are usually deep at start, try to see flops with hand which might flop well. I'm also calling massive shoves with hands I wouldn't in late stages, like AT, AJ, 88~ since many 'donk' players are shoving just for fun with trash hands, or weak hands wich look good for them, like KJs KQs 44~ you have a chance for early 2up and have a comfortable stack to play with

In the early stages I like to see flops for cheap, as you generally have 100 - 150 bb's. When people start raising and 3-betting that's when I fold (unless, ofc, AA, KK, AK etc).

Middle stage I generally only play strong hands, high suited connectors, mid pairs, again I like to see the flop if it's cheap. This also depends on my stack too, if I have less than 50bb then I play a bit tighter.

Late stage is where I loosen up a bit, and play aggressively against the short stacks. Be careful of those who cover you chip wise, a single wrong decision can see you bust.

Some awesome replies! I think I may just be on a down swing at the moment because I've had some awful coolers and bad beats. But I'll be playing tonight so I'm gonna make some tweaks to my game based on what you guys said and see where it gets me!

you can vary your play slightly, early stages give you the stack to call raises with marginal hands like small pairs or suited connectors, but dont chase a flush or a straight early on.

Watch cheap flops with stronger conrctors if u hit good try to get them into ur trap, so many fishes there they gona call any top or mid pair :) in middle try to play from possition and switch from passive/agressive plays :)

I usually don't register until the blinds and antes have come into play, Playing before the blinds and antes the pots are so small and play is so tight your just slowly chipping off and coming into the MTT say 4/5 levels in you still have 50bb+.

Play tight and be patient until the cards and good situations come to you. When you get to the mid stage of the MTT you can loosen up but you have to be able to throw away a decent hand (set/low end straight) when its obvious you're beat. And play to the other players tendencies.
