So I really love playing large MTTs and of the relatively few that I've played I've actually done quite well. What I'm going to attempt to do is grind up STT SNGs until I have enough of a BR to give it a good go.

As even the top pros only get ITM 10-12% of the time I think I can achieve a sustainable winning ITM %.

So let's say I will play between $1-$3.30 buy ins, how many buy ins should I have before I attempt it? A few hundred at least right?

Typically the consensus is <1000 entrants 100bi, >1000 entrants 200bi but 100bi BRM should be decent regardless for 1-3.3$ mtt's unless you're running 20 at a time and then you may wanna stick with 200 accross the board.

Minimum should be 75x Buy-in depending on format.

buyins should be a function of roi, the bigger the field the more games you will need to play to establish longterm roi

I would say if you cant replenish the funds i would go with 200 or 300 buyins for the large field tourneys

For a large field, its really is a long term plan.

Typical is 100bi but Ill go 150bi min because of large entrants.

If no cash back, Ill go as high as 200bi min.

Tournaments had a lot of players, so is hard to win... The variance is bigger.... So U must have a save bankroll to play it, 100 buy ins it's a good bankroll for tournaments of 1$....
Don't tilt it.. in tournaments take a bad beat it's normal like a sais the variance is bigger so be carefull, if u are a tilted player, just pays sits it's better for you and save for your many...

I think it depends a lot on the field and the blind structure, in turbo tournaments there is more variance so you should have more buy ins. I play at lesst 200 BI for regular tournaments and 250-300 for turbo tournaments.

Depends on format, ROI% and field size.

If you play pokerstars megafields and don't want to lose your bankroll, I wouldn't play them without almost 1000 buy-ins even if I'd have like 50% ROI. Variance in those is just hell.

But with good game selection and playing mainly small fields (under 500 participants) even 100 buy-ins might suffice. I wouldn't hang on too small games though if I'd have a small bankroll but it'd possible to reload in case of busting.

Over 150x buy-in`s are good start for MTT`s with less than 3000 entrants.

I'm going through a time when I have to keep going down with my buy ins because of my BR. And I have to keep it there if I want to keep a BR. So I have to say that if you are running good at $3.30 and 100BBs, keep at it. If not, go down one level to $2.20. The important thing is to have good BRM.

you should have at least 100 bi, however i would recommend to have at least 200 bi because big downswings are very common in mtt and even 100 bi cant be enough on a bad run.

I follow the rules. Do not play in the tournament when my bankroll below 100. I tried several times. Very strong pressure on the psyche and as a consequence a lot of mistakes.

For me, 500xBI is the most optimal.

I agree with the consensus , some where between 80 - 100x buyins to hand the variance that inevitably comes with mtts . Since you are playing the micros to begin with, as long as the structure is decent then starting on the low side is probably fine as you should have a large enough edge to make up for it
