Hello,
I have found success in micro stakes MTTs playing a tight ABC style of poker, but feel that I'm potentially missing out on opportunities to play more aggressively. e.g. Whenever I get a table/tournament chip lead, I am able to grow my chip stack but not noticeably moreso than when I have a 'middle of the pack' stack. I know that there is an advantage to having a big chip stack, but I haven't quite figured out how to harness this advantage.

Any advice on how I can play more aggressively? How can I take advantage of a chip lead in micro stakes tournaments and in general?

Thanks in advance

Widen your range some.

and in your game will be more leaks.

You can only increase steals against nit and passive players, that's all.. It is better to continue playing tight game regardless of the size of your stack.

Try and play more hands in position. Isolate weak players whenever possible.

Making check raises is another option which might surprise or confuse opponents.

These are some aggressive options. But you have to use them carefully and wisely or else your chip stack will dwindle in no time.:)

If you have a huge chip lead, in comparison to the rest of the players at your table, then you should put pressure on them during the bubble. You can afford to move in with anything and everything. Think of all those times you were the short stack during the bubble and the chip leader was going crazy. Did you ever call him down without great cards?

If your chip lead isn't huge, then you should pick your spots better. Widen your range, especially from late position. You can afford to 3 bet unopened pots with anything and everything from the Cutoff, Button and SB. Depending on your stack size, either 4-bet or 5-bet from late position, if there is one limper. Always make continuation bets(half pot). If they haven't hit the flop hard, they will fold more often than not. You don't even need to successful every time with your c-bets in order to break even.

Hope that helps. Good lucks.

FWIW, it was easy for me to get comfortable with a tight passive style. And I did OK with that style. But comfort is deadly. I have had to consciously work on getting more aggressive. This has meant a conscious effort to do things different. Forces me to break muscle memory.

So beyond widening your range some (no need to go nuts with that), you need to start thinking more seriously about stuff like position and bet sizing. Most of the players who are still playing are NOT total noobs. You want to begin learning how to ID styles (for online), or faces (for live). Perhaps you play too fast.....slow that down, EVEN WHEN YOU"VE GOT THE NUTS!...the point there is to look like a thoughtful player. Don't overdo that to the point of rudeness tho.

i pretty much agree with what has been said .. if you are looking good and have a great stack size then just sit back relax and watch how your opponents are playing .. this then gives you a better feel of how they play and you can use that to your advantage with the stack you have.

I have learned in order to get donks out you have to raise at least 5x BB. altho occasionally you will get that donk that will call that with a Js4s just because suited.

You have to be imposed, but does not mean paying any silly bet.

To be the chip leader with one hand is good but difficult. Constantly you niedergeses to push the Bank also always nepoluchitsya. Aggressive play is okay, but on aggression and fly out. Progress two times then neoteris emotions and spastic all. Moreover the Rand, too, will not always favor you. As previously mentioned even pocket aces when luck is dangerous.

Who needs your aggression.

Can opponents she and unnecessary but for the player sometimes useful to play aggressive. Otherwise you'll just be to push with two twos against your two aces more on the flop and you will be afraid to answer.

You can play with more hands and you can bluff more since many players dont like to fight against big stack, especially around bubble. You also can do things that you didnt do before, eg light 3-bet preflop on weak players, pot raise or overbet...

Some of the considerations do I get aggression in MTT is:

Play more hands and at times preflop make a bet-pot or mini-raise (2x or 2.5x) and eliminate weaker players and they tend not to play with marginal hands.

Evaluate your play structure and at other times, check raise is a great choice, so let your opponents a little more confused about their movements.

I play aggressively in the late stages of MTT (especially at the final table) using blind stealing when it worth it and trying to play aggressively against players with most chips when I feel that I can go all-in first, just to defend me from them (for example).

To put pressure on medium stacks as they have something to lose and not be affected by short stacks they have nothing to lose.

make an increase on top villain with vpip-20 in 3bet or 4bet because they will be calling only premium hands, but do it in villains with average Staks
