So I have a huge amount of free time while I am at work to do a substantial amount of reading. Therefore, I've read Moshman twice, as well as Vol. 1 of HoH, and am currently reading Kill Everyone.

Moshman and HoH seem to be pretty similar with tight early, blind steal in later rounds strategy. However, Kill Everyone seems to advocate a looser style earlier in which playing speculative hands can flop monsters and take down big pots.

I know that Kill Everyone cautions beginning players not to use this strategy, as it takes considerable post flop skill to use it well. However, what better way to develop post flop skills than to get experience in playing hands like these? Is there a point where I should consider using these strategies vs. the tight early strategy that the other two books suggest?

I guess what I am looking for is more so opinions on the differing strategies, as I know that there is no clear cut right or wrong strategy to use.

If I'm not mistaken Kill Everyone talks about MTT's mostly? Maybe it talks about STT's a little, but I do think it's mostly for MTT's.

Also I don't think Moshman would argue that you should play speculative hands in the early stages, however lots of conditions need to be met for it to be a correct play, plus in STT's especially turbos the early stages don't last that long anyway, so that may be why it seems he advocates a generally tighter strategy early.

hahah no worries. I've heard Kill Everyone is one of the best MTT books out there. Check out Wining Poker Tournaments: One Hand At A Time after you're done with Kill Everyone, that's a really really great MTT book.

Another good book for MTT is Poker Tournament Formula by Arnold Snyder. It gives you a good knowledge of position play.

Is discussion about position in Poker Tournament Formula applicable to both STTs and MTTs (as well as cash games)? I find that so far, I have been playing some what well. I would like to learn more about position play though. Sometimes I tend to play my cards without regard to position, and find myself in some difficult spots.

PTF is not applicable for STT. It is good advice concerning blind steal but this is not a good strategy for STT. This is a MTT strategy and you can't apply it to all format. It has its limits.

and also take in consideration some of new guys, young pro's that make some statements that you have to play a lot of hands and see a lot of flops that you may take advantage off some players.
Also have read from some of them that aggression is key to win in large field even with some junk and you're supposed to risk...
I do not agree completely on this, but, take a look at online games and you will see that bunch junk hands win ...

just a thing to consider
