Alright I was wondering if there are a lot of stt grinders out there. I don't hear much about it. I'm normally a MTT player so don't flame me. But im curious are there people grinding low stake STT that make a living off it? I was thinking about redopsiting and grinding STT since cash games tilt me. Sorry if I'm kinda ranting.

I play quite a few low stake sng's for the reason they are shorter (usually less than an Hr) and I do quite well in them vs MTT's. Mix it up, try the sng and if you do good, stay with em and try the occasional MTT as thats where the money really is for good payouts.

It's possible to make a living playing small buyin STTs, but you have to play a lot of games and quite a few hours. You can plug in different numbers, but let's say you play $5 and have a 20% ROI. This means you average +$1 per game. So obviously, to make say $3000 per month, you have to play 3000. Factor in the avg number of tables you play at once and the avg duration, and you have the number of hours per month you can expect to avg.

I would not recommend you trying this right now. It is very difficult to make much money at all - takes a while to get to where you need to be - if you ever get there. You would need to devote all of your time and energy into playing and studying the game.

You should focus on finding a good job right now and keep your money for life expenses. :)

I don't play sng's these days but I have in the past.
I don't really see anyone making any significant amounts of money playing STT-SNG at lowstakes (< not sure how much $ do you consider 'low'? .. I would assume that's $7 to $15 buyin?.. or $10-$20 depending upon what site you're on)

The small group of regulars who I do see making some money in SNG's (playing volume & with a much higher ROI than the guys playing STT-SNG) are the guys who are regularly playing the 18's & 27's (reg. speed) or the 45's & 180's (including the 180 man w rebuys). Even at $3-$7 (on Stars) you'll see the occassional reg. there with over $10k profit, roi above 20%. (the ones with highest ROI seem to be the guys/gals (regs.) who play the 18man & 27man reg. speed).
