I am often disappointed in myself for not perusing middle pair

JQo, 4, J, K/A rainbow on the flop. Flop is bet on and I either call cautiously or fold. If I call and don't hit it's almost certain I will fold to another bet

Am I doing the right thing?

I think the answer might be to bet (without risking too high a %), or reraise, which lets me know where I am. But I'm not sure

Depends on table etc, if you're getting bet into by a fairly loose player and you're deep stacked, you can 3 bet and see where you're at. If he calls he's definately got a holding, if he 4bets /shoves he's probably got you beat.

It's all circumstantial though. Just cause there's an overcard to your pair on the flop, doesn't mean someone has it.

Out of position I'd just check/call the flop and see the turn, if the turn is a brick, then check/fold. If you're in position then bet, it's good for information.
Depends on the kind of board as well, wether it be wet or dry on the flop, its so hard to say how to play these scenarios because there is so many variables.

hi
the most important thing in these situations is position
when you re out of position you need to hit the flop to play the hand
but when you are in position you can make a move, depending the opponent you have in the hand, the blinds and the pot

Over time you will learn how to overcome these situations. You just need to gain experience. Good luck.

More info is needed to answer this accurately. Do u have stats (hud) or is it bovada. Know your player and take notes if possible to make the best decision. For example, if you are short stacked, qj os could be mucked and you wouldnt have to worry about giving yourself reverse implied odds by calling pf. If you have a large enough stack, you could just call and try to get to showdown or raise to know where you stand.

In this case you have 3 rules: Position, position, position.
