I have been playing alot more MTTs then cash games recently and I am working hard to improve my overall strategy. I consistently make it through a large portion of the field to the late middle to very late cpl from the bubble stages with a average to above average stack. Then it seems to all go to hell when I up my aggression with 1st place in mind not just a min cash, I dont care about min cashing, my goal is final tables and the ultimate prize. I try to pick the right spots but keep running into the same situations where I am flipping and ending up on the wrong side of it. But from all the studyimg I gave done it seems to me that without taking these spots your chances of first is very slim. Anyone have any insight, advice, material to study (read/watch) etc? Any feedback would be great.

I use to play the same way

Lately I noticed that if you up your aggression from late position in unopened pots but still maintain a tight image your bets get through a lot more. If people are playing tight enough it may be +EV to open up your range to 40% (A2+,K2s+,k7+,Q4s+,J6s+,T7s+,22+) but with a lot of this range you really need fold equity to make the hands profitable and even then some of the hands are really close so I find that if you get rid of the worst of these hands you get a lot more steel attempts through.

Also I feel that losing a medium sized pot then not having enough chips to make plays/call short stakes later on puts you in a worst spot where as winning a medium pot doesn't put you in that much better of a position.

Sorry if I wasn't very clear hope this helps.
