Hey!

I've been playing some SnG's in the past week, and I have noticed alot of successful players have stats 20/10ish... Is limping a succesful thing in these micro sng's. I would tend to believe that having a range of 19/17 aproximatly is alot better.

Of course I try to abuse the limpers as much as I can, but I am not very succesful at it.

Thanks for insights.

If theres lots of fish I limp more and I only limp if people have limped before me, I may open a bet here but not often due to 2-3 people in a pot every hand and calling on all sorts of stuff.. too tricky. stats would be 28/16 about that

If its more tighter I'll bet stuff I'll normally limp even reraise 64s etc.

stats will be 22/18 roughly.

its working ok for me so far, only at micros, 4$-

This is only the small picture though bet sizing and all changes, if its fishier I play small ball alot more but this is something I'm getting used to.

Limping is usually not the best option even against terrible opponents unless you are incredibly comfortable postflop...but if you thrive in weird postflop situations then by all means jump in there when you have enough chips (20xbb or so) and are on a passive table.

Like Bwammo said, limping, especially open limping, in general is usually not a good idea. I have seen plenty of solid SNG players who like to limp early in the game from early position with small to mid pocket pairs. Essentially they are trying to see a cheap flop and set mine, since hitting a set in SNGs is a great way to double up. Also, early in the game, it is certainly ok to limp behind in position with hands that can flop big (pocket pairs, suited broadways, suited aces) when there are 2+ players in front of you who have already limped. But remember, in these pots, especially with a hand like Ax suited, your goal is to flop a big hand, not just top pair, as you will find yourself in some trouble with top pair-bad kicker, in a multi way pot. However, once you hit the middle game, there should be no more limping, as raising, isolating, and stealing blinds will be the more optimal play

But another thing to think about as to why you should not be open limping is because you do not give anyone else a chance to make a mistake. Other's mistakes equal more chips for you. If you limp and its folded around to the big blind, he gets a free flop. You are not giving him a chance to make a mistake. By raising, now players have to make a decision to fold, call, or raise. Any one of those could be a mistake that you can profit from depending on their hand and position.

One player in particular that I have helped with their SNG play had the habit of limping into a lot of pots and just leaking chips 20, 50, 100 at a time. Taking the extreme route, I said for the next week, you are not allowed to limp into any more pots. You either raise or fold. Needless to say he said that this has already helped his game as he is reaching the middle and late game with more chips. So long story short, limping has its place, but you will do just fine if you eliminated it from your game.

Limping is fine if in late position with good odds and still low blinds I think?

Limping in position with a hand that can hit big is idea only in maybe the cutoff or button in my opinion prior to antes and stack size. If you have a decent amount of BB (say 17+) and you have position, limp otherwise fold and get out of the pot. You wont accomplish much raising the pot with 3-5 limpers because as soon as 1-2 call, the others will as well because of how big the pot is and their odds. If you dont flop that big hand TP/MK will get you in trouble a lot of times. Playing for the Ace / King high flush has gotten me in trouble a few times when hitting my top pair witha 7-10 kicker instead of playing for the flush/straight/boat as intended. Sometimes as a player its hard to fold that pair with so much money in the pot. That was one of my downfalls but have improved drastically in those situations and it increased my winning substantially.

I mean what happens when you limp with Axs and the flop comes A 7 4 rainbow and a person in early-mid position shoves ? Calling leaves you with 2-5 BB, what would you do then? Avoid those situations altogether and wait for your time and pick your spots carefully. Limp to much and you give half your stack away before you know it
