Hi,guys. Tomorrow i will start grinding micro SNG. My favorite type is regular SNG 0,25$ buy-in,90 players. My questions are:
1. What kind of people play there?(Are there many fishes?)
2. What strategies should i have?(in the early, middle and late phases)

Yes, very more weak players, at the table usually 2-3 regular.

2. What strategies should i have?(in the early, middle and late phases)

Enough ABC poker: raise only good hands from EP/MP, only 3-bet value hands like QQ+ and AK preflop, don’t bluff continuation bet in a multi-way pot, keep turn/river bets for value and so on.

I can only say about some aspects of the game that does not require a detailed description. So range hands for early stage:

For open raise only top 5% range hand this 99+ AQ+. Limp always low and middle pairs for set value, also you can limp suited connectors in any position ( like JTs T9s 89s 87s 76s but fold 32s 34s 45s 56s ). 3bet range only AK AA KK QQ.

EP MP fold KJ KQ KT AT and other marginal hands.

In other words, your game must be very tight for early stage.

1 yes, there are a lot of fishes
2 play tight in early stages and don't bluff. Valuebet more then you would against good players.

I play pretty conservative at the beginning because like people are stating above, they're mainly fish and will shove/call a shove with just about anything without a second thought because it is micro stakes.

Half way through I would have hoped to have doubled at minimum. If you have tippled I would typically try and get a little aggressive because you have been playing so tight (if anyone is watching) and try and get some good flops.

Other than that, just play good poker and get to the top bud! :)

Tight play in the early stages of a SnG is usually a good idea, somewhat regardless of buy-in or field size. Not 100% reliable as a rule, but good enough to go with until you have more experience.

As the tourney goes on, exploit other players' weak tendencies. With average stack sizes of 10-15bb, people who are still limping are just asking to have their chips taken. Take advantage of bubble type situations...especially FT bubble. Avoid the weak plays yourself...no limping (in general, but especially with average stacks of 10bb-ish). Once your stack is in the 10-15bb range, expect to be shoving preflop much more than making some kind of min-raise and folding to reshoves. Every time you 2-3x and fold to a 10-15bb reshove you're probably making a cEV mistake.

You should stick to the basics here. You will find 2 grinders/table most of the time, weekends are filled with more fish, hence more profit.

Don't be afraid to play your hands when near the bubble, most people will be so focused on getting in the money that they will fold almost 95% of the hands, so take advantage of that to steal as many blinds as possible.

yes, there are more fishes than you imagine hahahaha
playing tight in early stages will make you survive longer. There are too many donkey calls, so the bluff should be avoided.

micro SNGs are kind of hard to grind on because so many loose and bad players play at them. I am not a fan of playing anything online less than 10$ buy in. But i have plenty plenty experience in playing micro SNGs unfortunately. It is quite easy to come up in money, basically sit around and watch watch watch is the best advice to give anyone. The bad players and good players are easy to spot especially at these small buy in SNGs. So once you have figured out who is a decent player and ones that are awful, you can start to take control where you need to. Remember never to try to bluff the awful or bad players because they have no concept of the game, so as more bad players or inexperienced players will be playing the game, stay away from bluffs mostly all together until u are down to about 4 people left. Now once you have established the good, the bad, and the ugly you are going to want to find your range of hands. Mostly, you want to keep it kind of tight except for early early in the tournament. If you are a good tournament player you should be able to figuer out where you are in the hand with a large range. So play as many hands as possible with good position against just a few in the hand. Try to get "lucky" and flop a straight or good draw early where it is not going to devistate your chip stack if you miss. When you get a strong starting hand early make sure you raise really large, I mean really really large like 10BBs + because people love to call early w nothing so you have to make sure u have those bad players out in order to stay away from them flopping 2 pair or some obscene straight w nothing but J5 or 810o. Now once you get your chips up steal some blinds here and there to make sure your chips stay up, but make sure you do it against tight players, generally a good player will let their blind go and not think twice becasue they know they will get it back later, likewise dont get too discouraged at letting your own blinds go. In small SNGs the blinds will start to come around fast so you will get your chance to get them back. Once you are down to 3 or 4 handed then the real play begins. Now you have to realize what you have seen those opponents play and how they play their top pairs and draws. You have to let your read be your biggest asset. Make moves where you can when you think they are a little weak and you can try to trap when you have a big hand w just 3 or 4 people left. Keep your chips up and dont risk too much of your stack at any point in the game until you have to. And in micro SNGs you will be fine w just 3 or 4 BBs left. 2 double ups and you are right back in it. The best thing to focus on is making the money!... JUST MAKE THE MONEY FIRST... navigate the best you can w your stack and after that make some big moves, trap, bluff and run off instinct to try and make some profit!... Good luck

I know its been repeated countless times to play tight so you obviously got that part :p What I can offer in terms of new advice is watch carefully early who shoves because there are ALOT of players who want to double/triple up early to make the grind worth it - they shove with horrible hands usually and you can easily double up early if you have any mid-high pair, or suited connectors (Id say 10J+ at early range) - stay tight and conquer your opportunity and you should see yourself in the money. Good luck on the grind!

1 is almost all play as they want, fishes everywhere, they are almost impossible to read.
2 special strategy was missing here, as all play because they play how want to, but you can play tight getting the nuts, and in any case do not get play in multi-way with out hands monsters
