Last night I went down to a tourney that I have not been to in a while as there is at least 5 or 6 semi pros that work the game and felt that I needed some more practice. The best I have ever done in this tourney is 2nd place.

The game is 5k stack with a $20 5k add on and a 5k chip up for $20 at first break. There is unlimited buys until first break and blinds are every 20 minutes.

Last night started with 2 full ring tables. The table I sat at had 3 of the semi pros sitting at it and it was a tough table but really good play and I held my own. The second table had 6 rebuys in the first hour with one guy rebuying 3 times.

Right before first break the guy who bought in 3 times was moved to our table 2 seats to my left. First hand he was in was an all in play. He did this every other hand.

I desperately tried to stay away from him at all costs, but he was constantly stealing my blinds when in BB, UTG and UTG+1 with all in raises. I knew at times he had cards but other times he did not. The problem was that I could not catch anything to challenge him with. On top of that he took out 4 players before he got a small hand slap. I went out with just 2 bb left.

I have never been so frustrated and have never had a more unenjoyable time playing cards.

How do you deal with gamblers like this?

You mentioned you were 6 bullets in? At this point, are you just playing for fun or is the final prize still worth the effort. Plus that means beating all these "semi - pros".

About the 3 bullet guy, did others call? The way you wrote, it seems to me that there were 6 players at the table and after he got moved to yours, he eliminated every single player at the table until it was just you and him, heads up? What were his cards when others called him? I'd probably just call when I had an optimal hand to go with. But I would not pay 6 re-buys for a tourney.

Little misread here, OP did not state that they rebought 6 times, just that there were 6 rebuys on the other table.

OP sometimes you just run cold and end up blinding down to where you are shoving ATC or calling off with ATC when you get good value. Just the nature of tournament poker with a shallow stack and fast structure.

With a maniac like this you have to be super aware of your position and wait for a hand that you can either trap the maniac with or shove before he does.
