The past few days i have made it to the money. Ive been focusing on making it to the bubble and it has worked. I cant seem to get to the final table. Any advice.. is playing too tight a bad thing. I find myself doing that a lot in the later stages of tournaments. I just seem to play less hands and lose them. Or am i running out of luck late in the MTT

I'm glad I found this thread. My biggest thing now is trying to make it in the money, and then once in the money I play a little lose to build my stack. But just the other day, I'm up plent to make it in the money and like 10 people left until the bubble and I shove with KK on small blind cuz everyone folds and I lose everything. So many times, so many times I get close to the money and I make stupid mistake like that. If I just wait it out I would be fine. So I'm really working on making the money first. But maybe that's why I haven't won a tournament yet. Cuz once I'm in the money I'm usually on the low side of stacks. I could really use some advice as well.

Choose tournaments with fewer participants.

I think my best not to be on the bubble is to defend your blinds and your boats that have earned secure them, you have to stop playing

Making the bubble? or winning the whole thing??

Making the bubble/ making a cash is just a different strategy than winning the tournament. Cashing is always nice, but to make a big cash you need to take advantage of players that want to just cash. It's risk reward. If youve got solid reads at the players at your table, identify the players who are playing to cash and look to steal blinds and make plays that will propel not only to a final table but to a top 3. If your comfortable with your current bankroll, try to go for the big win. Just my opinion!

depends on the tourney value - a $2-$5 tourney doesn't really achieve much by making the bubble (except another coffee) whilst higher value tourneys where the bubble prize money means something - that's different.
Of course there is always the self satisfaction (and bragging rights) to say you actually made it but online who will know.
Quite enjoy it when in lower value tourneys a player gets put out by rubbish and complains (after 2 hrs) - what do they pay for their entertainment if they go to the pictures or a show - that would keep them playing for days.

I'm always worried about making the bubble but that's because I don't invest much online, I am starting to think I need to get into bigger pots but less pots maybee so i'm not worred about the bubble. I always do good after the bubble:)

Steal blinds by opening your button range and shoving as small blind... Specially against weak and scared players who only want to ladder up. Pray to God to get one right next to u. :)
