i assume you mean one of the pokerstars freerolls where there is a field of 9000 and not one of the CC freerolls. so i would say that winning two freerolls in a row would be harder. first off the main event would be about 8000 people so you would only need to come in 800th to cash. if you play two freerolls in a row your bound to get unlucky once and you get crippled and cant win. so i would definitely say harder to win two freerolls in a row.

You are joking right?

Wow, geeeez.

I'll answer you even though this is so obvious that it's ridiculous.

Surviving through thousands of better than average players in the ME is way tougher than surviving through thousands of people w/ gills in freerolls.

Free rolls, winning a freeroll is luck.

The main event takes at least skill with luck on your side

I would bet my right arm and both my left leg and arm that phil ivey (Yes, I went there) could not win two freerolls in a row (assuming your talking about the donkfest 7500 people ones)

I would say winning back to back freerolls because there are so much variance and luck involved in freerolls and there is also a lot of donks. In the main event, there arent that many donks and to get minimum payout you only have to double up like 2 or 3 times and then you can protect your stack.

While cashing in the main event would be a significant achievement, the probability of doing so is much higher than winning back-to-back freerolls with similar field sizes. It's not even close, in my opinion.

If we're talking large-field freerolls (ie: 5K+) then obviously it'd be easier to win the Main Event than to win two of them twice.

The question doesn't make a great deal of sense though because what you're really asking is "which is easier: winning one large-field donkament or winning two in a row?" and the answer to that is always, obviously, going to be the one that you only have to do once.

Actually, the question was "which is easier: cashing in one large-field tournament (with all the best players in the world) or winning two donkaments in a row."

LOL - I read wrong.

Obviously just cashing the Main Event would be easier. I stand by calling it a donkament though.

lol ya i want to know how many people actually buy into the main event rather then winning a seat online

In one respect everyone.
Companies like PokerStars and FullTilt are not allowed to buy people in directly to WSOPME, so what they do is that they give you the money in your hand, and then you can do whatever you want with that.

So a lot of online qualifiers takes the money instead.

freerolls vs/me

Definatly winning in two back to back freerolls. As I play in them daily and my cashing in them stats are at approximently 14%. I play live tournement events as well and that is not as difficult as itming in two freerolls back to back.

i just cashed twice back to back in two freerolls yesterday. Did it pretty easy. I cant even imagine playing against all the best players in the world. This should be a no brainer

While I believe that you may be right, that they cannot buy you in directly, I would highly doubt that any major site would allow a player not to buy in to the ME with the money they receive. There must be some sort of agreement in place. The sites really want players to play in the tournament and wear their gear, so I can't imagine they would allow players to skip out on the tournament because they lose all that free advertising.

You didn't pay attention to the op...cashing in a freeroll not that hard, but WINNING 2 back-to-back damn near impossible with the amount of donks in freerolls.

Yes, sounds crazy, but its true.
They do have a lot of incitaments to get the players to play the tourney though.

If you manage to make the November nine, they will award you big time.:musicus:

Actually, I've read in a few places that it's common for players to just take the money and there's not a lot the sites can do about it - after all, they've already taken their rake on the satellite entries and unless they made a huge mistake with their overlays it's actually other players' money that's contributing to the Main Event ticket, not the site's.

Think I remember reading there are some sites that offer extra bonuses if the players do actually front up and play though - an extra couple of grand for accommodation and expenses etc.

That's the truth! Take a look for instance at such an important Main Event as one of the stop of the european poker tour! there is obviously skill makes someone be the champion while in a freeroll everyone is beginner and there it doesn't matter how much you know about poker...
