Hi guys, I have been a reader for a while, Just registered. Okay my situation out here is, Generally i play $5 tournments for fun sake and i do make it to the final table at times, ( my best is 3rd out 247 people, maybe its luck ) I woudnt call my self a pro,I would say just an beginner. It just patience thats makes me the reach out there. Anyway the reason i'm here is because i accidently registered for a $50 tournament and guess what!? I won and now i have got a seat for a 100k pot on sunday evening, Seat is worth $515. I'm not sure how do i play this game. Stack size in 10000 chips, I have never played above 3000 so im not sure how to play in this tournament. Should just play with my general patience routine or add some swag to my game? Please advice and some tips would be highly appriciated.
Please don't mind my English as its not my mother tounge language. Thanks and cheers

Stick to what you know, apparently it works. Dont get intimidated or think about the buy in. Dont worry about average stack size or the chip leader. Its just another tournament. Play your game. Best of luck to you.

The early stages will last longer, so you will have to be more patient (more tight) than usual. Hope to get good cards/good situations here. Later, you'll have to be alot more aggressive -- stealing blinds, etc. Try to look up the players at your table when you get there.

5000 starting chips is quite a cushion to rest on for a patient, and observant Player.

At that level you're going to see more power plays. They'll be playing with a greater skill level than you might be used to.

Don't check unless you've given up. Don't slow play. Bet your winners with confidence. Ummm... guarded confidence. Toss all those gaped Broadway cards, and A9down when out of position.

In general, if you don't feel comfortable raising, fold. You can do this. They'll be afraid of you after a cuppla hits. And you'll feel it, but DON'T let your confidence get holt of you, cuz these guys can read too. Most of them won't have numbers on you. It's really a nice situation. 5000 chips? sweet.

Pay attention whilst playing a tight, solid game.

Expect much more aggression than you're used to such as less limping, more opening light, and more 3-betting, 4-betting, even 5-betting, especially while the stacks are deep enough so players can do these things and still fold without crippling themselves.

Also, the deeper the stacks, the more suited they are for small ball so watch for players who favor that style, and expect them to play some mediocre hands, often by over-calling when they're in position.

There will be some players in the tournament who satellited in from small buyins, but overall, you'll be at a disadvantage skill-wise plus not used to the style of play. Your best strategy is probably "Kill Phil"-like. That's a book about how to give yourself the best chance against better players. Play pretty tight, and when you do play pots, look to get more chips in than you usually would. The basic idea is to play fewer but larger pots. This increases your reliance on card-catching / luck, which is better than pitting your skill against opponents you have more.

Thanks every one!
I will keep the kill phil in mind, I have been noticing a lot of sattelites linking to this tournament, $60 and 25 seats, lot of $5 to with 1 seat, right now there a @33 with 4 seats going.. So lot of people are getting dumped in. Player count in around 135 and theres still 50 mins to start. Tournament info is 180 min late buy in :(, how long will this go on for? good news- no re buy. Should i play a little to aggressive in the begining and then play tight after making some stack?

Your header says you play at wsop. Is this game to be played at WSOP?

We would all appreciated a good review of WSOP poker.

IMO you will start out with good sized stack compared to blinds. I find if I Start out tight to super tight I get the rep which helps later in tourney. I say start out slow and goto aggressive. In the beggining usually ppl play tighter so only calls you get will put you generally against good to great hands, Add in the fact blinds aren't worth stealing makes me think going aggressive could cost you

Its 888, But I also play on wsop and the clients are similar. Same enterprise, same software, payout format is also the same. I prefer to play on wsop but it dosent let me play from india. Anyway ill try to give a good review after the touney.
Right now from 130 players in 1 hour its become 265.. Damn people are coming in like water. Major knock to my strategy i planned. I assumed to play with 170 buts this looks like im gonna play against 300 people+

I promise to share about 2-5% if i win something, If some one wanna pm or tell me here. Last pay out is on rank 37 for $850

I think that patience in this type of tournament is the key to success, look to book extra time for this tournament because it may take longer than you're used to at all, just follow your game, and of course good luck , which reaches the final table and win this tournament! :) :)

You should look for oppurtunities as they present themselves.. ie. look to exploit other player's tendancies/weaknesses. Don't go in with a pre-conceived idea of how you're going to play it (ie. like you've posted above).
