i would like to ask the cardschat community their opinions on low pocket pairs in MTTs when shotstacked say less then 10BB.is it a good strategy to go allin with low pocket pairs say 2s-8s?,also should position be a factor in this(and if so how big a factor)or should you try to wait for a better hand?
i would be greatful of any feedback from the cardschat community

If I'm less than 10BB, I'm shoving with any pair. Then pray you only have one caller. The more that call, the less chance you have of your hand winning.

well...maybe, MAYBE you can fold like 22 or 33 UTG if the table has been calling all the time. You are essentially never very far ahead with those hands. But the table really has to be calling pretty loose for that to be the case.

generally under 10bb's our only play is to shove or fold. What type of game and what the payouts are can have an effect on what position you should certain hands. For example, shoving 10bb's in a 9 man STT from all positions is going to be a massive leak. For larger field MTT's shoving with any pocket pair for 10 BB's is going to be great.

In general when shoving, the fewer players we need to shove through, the better. So on the button we're shoving a wider range than say a shove from middle position.

I agree that it is all in and hope that you either hit trips or the guys who call miss with their over cards.

I think position plays here a big role and offcourse it depends what kind of table is it. but most of the times you I go all in.

Depends on the table type. I dont think you can just shove with any pair. If any 1 calls your 50 50 at best and 4 to 1 dog. Wouldnt shove 22 33 44 55 66 in early position. would shove everything down to 9s ine early, shove 8s to 6s in mid and then rest in late. But depends on table if loads callers always calling all ins with any 2 id deffo wait for 2 high cards. IMO id rather be chasing then hoping to hold up. Feeling better when hit the river than it is if get sucked out on it lol

If I have low pocket pairs I usually fold them, when I'm shortstack, because my opponents call with higher cards, and it's almost sure, that I finish the tournament. It's better to go all in with to higher cards. But sometimes I'm just watching, when I fold 22 and the 3rd is coming on flop..... But it's not often.

Well, I think it also depends how far u are in the tournament.
Is it likely others are going to bust soon if u just fold ?
What's the M of the others ?
Are they tight or loose ?
Do they understand ICM if this is in order?
So many other factors which change what u should do imho.

Oooops, I see, you say shortstacked....
Well, I think I shove and hope for a double up.
In case of losing I just move on to the next.

also, position doesnt matter, i would still push utg or in co or button. hopefully you get 1-2 callers and they miss or you get your set

It would be nice if only 1 caller, but under 10bbs, you have to shove

It would also be nice to be first in the pot, but shove it nonetheless

i like it :)

when your dealing with around 15-20 bbs thats when things change a bit.

I dont agree at all. I don't want to be called when i have alow pocket pair. If someone raised infront of me and i have 10x BB ill fold the lower pocket pairs if i think my opponent is tight because i dont want a coin flip and thats the best case there is also a descent chance you could be up against a higher pair and you would be dominated

I disagree. If you have 10bb's left you almost have to take a shot even in a coinflip situtation, with maybe an execption on pocket 2's or 3's anything other i think you have to shove. That might be the best hand you get and the best chance you have at doubling up.

Open shove any pp with 10BB or less. with the very small pairs 2s-5s I may fold if there has been a raise before me as your flipping at best but could easily be 4 to 1 dog.

i think position does matter

With a small pocket pair yo need to be aware of how many people are still acting behind you and know their history of hands somewhat. If you have a lot of people to act behind you, it may be risky.
