Here's the situation; you are at the beginning of a MTT, blinds are either 5/10 or 10/20. You get say one of the top hands to get AA, KK, QQ. what is your bet?
Now I know the standard is 3-5x BB, but at that level you are going to get lots of callers and a pretty good chance of getting sucked out. What is your strategy here?

My personal experience you are going to have to raise at least 10XBB cause it does eliminate 1-3 callers who would normally call your 3-5XBB. Most of the time it puts you against 1-3 others, even possibility of taking down a miniscule pot(so be it but it is still early)...

The other problem though.. with any amount of raise though. The next donk in line pushes with any 2 cards and the other 1-4 call leaving you with the decision to fold.

It is a race yes to get chips but no need to worry so much about accumulating them in the early going.

In EP, I try to limpraise big or even all in. I hate leading out because you have to advertise how good your hand is by leading with more than 5BBs if you want to isolate. I usually raise 5BBs if the table is tight and won't raise behind me though.

In MP/LP I reraise big, or raise about 5/6BBs if there's a limper. If there're multiple limpers, then I raise huge. Whatever amount I think will get a single or two callers.

I agree with the Twizinator. Human nature says 3-5x10 is nothing, but 8-10x10 makes a decision.
