Hey everyone,

Just wanted to hear from a few members about loose players,

Especially early on in tourney's, what is the best method of attack?

I play tight early on, playing high pairs and suited premiums, but no matter what i bet pre-flop I still get called by terrible hands,

I have no problem with that of course when im hitting top pair/two pair or trips on the flop, however how do i stop very loose fish calling me chasing back-door draws? For some reason stars and Tilt keep rewarding these terrible players :(

Any info would be great

I also would suggest playing TAG early in mtt's.... especially micro-stakes mtt's. I also would suggest that you bloat pots with your strong hands by raising 3-4x the BB. Doing this makes your hand range look super strong, but bad players don't notice and or care. When you have say QQ and flop comes j 53 rainbow you likely stack someone with a J at the micros. Just play super tight and bet your premium hands hard. If you get AK or AQ and get called in 3+ spots a cbet isn't advisable unless you hit. Play tight and you will win.... pretty simple stuff vs micro donks.

Play smart and give them the rope they need and they will hang themselves. I have found that seemingly tight play allows you to set traps more easily. The more agressive someone is the more likely they will be easy to get trapped. Of course, trap plays carry risks for the trapper too so beware of that.

you cant stop them from calling. The only thing you can do is take away their pot odds so that if they do call you, they are making a mistake.
In theory you gain every time your opponent makes a mistake.

well I suppose I might be one of then loose players early on.
I open/call alpot of hands preflop early in a mtt while the blinds are cheap enough to do so and try to build my stack up out of good reading abilities towards my opponents.
If I tend to play to tight and only premiums early in a mtt then I find myself short more often than not when the blinds tend to get higher.
My advice if aplicable would be to loosen up your range early in a mtt and try to gain reads and table image early on,so when the blinds escalate you hopefully will be sitting at at least average stacks.

It's very hard To stop players from calling you early in a multi table tournament. You probably can stop them all but maybe you can then the herd. Instead of a normal raise, like two times, 2 1/2 times, three times. Look at their stack and bet somewhere between, one 4th to one 6th of their stack. This works some of the times.Like I said this probably won't get rid of all of them, but it may thin herd. When I use this tactic I like to be in the early position, under the gun, under the gun plus one something like that.

Pre-flop? If so, I disagree. Only betting huge when you have a very strong hand will make you very easy to read.

I will probably get killed for this but I try and play as many pots as I can early as cheaply as I can. Usually limping is a bad idea but early in a mtt the fish aren't folding anyway so if you can get in cheap and hit it will usually pay off. Imho almost all tournies start off loose, tighten around the bubble then loosen up again after. I want to play as many hands as possible vs weaker opponents. Fold discipline is crucial to play this way but the chips you can gain early makes it worthwhile. Again, I am new too so......good luck.

honestly, you won't be able to stop people from calling. Depending on how fast the blinds are going up i would start to really playing around the 50/100 level. In the beginning even with 1500 chip tourneys, no one is folding anything to 100 chip bet. Nobody. Any 2 suited cards, any thing remotely connected they will play so you will have to rock up early on. Play super strong hands and play them very hard.
A lot of fish in these tourneys play the "i want a big stack and I want it now" type poker. So let these donks just donk on each other. Don't worry about fish getting large stacks early. in fact make a note of them so you know who to hit and to hit hard once the blinds get to around 50/100

Thank you, Master ! I wish I can tattoo that on my hand so I don't break my word... I think the same way but when it comes to action I always go pretty lame :(
