I play in a local live game. Its a 10€ buy in, and a lot of regulars. Its a pretty easy going game, lots of younger players using it to get some live playing experience with out risking a lot of money.I like it, cause the players try to play good, and dont view the low buy in as an excuse to just go all in with crap and so on. But there are a lot of regs, and they all know each other, and some players will often show after winning a larger contested pot on the re-raise. I was bullying a lot last night and pushing players off pots more than I usually do, and I wasnt showing. Some were getting a bit annoyed and saying "We're showing man, come on". Now they were only showing stronger hands, and I was sometimes pushing with stronger hands (won 2 big pots on balls....both FD boards and I didnt have the flush, but they checked so I pushed lol). So since its a home type game, and I will be playing there more often, should I show sometimes when strong, kind of a "when in Rome" thing? Or fuk em....

Showing only gives them more information and information is power in poker. I would never show, unless it was going to help me later on. Like showing the bluff, after playing tight for an hour, so my next hand gets paid off.

But never get goaded into it because "everybody's doing it".

I have a standard never show rule- everyone knows that i dont show, usless they pay(call), this makes me more money, as some people call with less than optimal- just so they can see my cards, it comes off as an a** h0l3 move at first when u get in a game where everyone shows, but everyone will know if you state your policy "no call, no show" , and not care anymore. I was in a game the other day and a guy was facing a bet, and asked if he folded -would i show? before i could say no, the hole table said he never shows, got call to see, etc...

10 euro bi w/ regs?

Why not? Only big buy in games will get regs? There are about 15-20 ppl who come every week or 2. The game happens 2x a week. And its a popular Irish pub, so lots of tourists are there and decide to play. usually 35-40 players, now with the October fest on its 45 50. But as I said in my OP a of of players using an inexpensive BI to get small MTT experience. Not sure why thats so surprising....

I rarely ever show either. I think I've probably only shown a hand four times since I started playing live. Reasons because...I wanted to show that I don't always play with the immortal nuts and I do at times bluff, or I raised some older woman and I felt guilty, or the hand was just too good not to show!

I think it all depends on what type of player you are. If you're loose-aggressive and you like to bluff a lot of pots, I wouldn't recommend showing but if you're a somewhat tight player, then showing a bluff can work to your advantage later on.
