re: Poker & Live tourny Question.
Maybe it’s just me but live tournaments are vastly different than online tournaments (all around) but specifically with respect to average stack sizes and whatnot.
First you must consider that live tournaments play much, much, slower than online tourneys – as such the value to looking at the board every 15 minutes is not very good! Personally, I take a look at the board after every break and that’s it!
You also must consider that these stats are updated manually, usually by the floor, or as delegated by the floor – as such the latency is high, especially if there are lots of players, and the accuracy of the board is not real good.
In my opinion, you shouldn’t look at the board that often – it’s just putting mostly wrong or late, time sensitive information in your head. Additionally, it’s taking your mind off of what matters most and that is the game of poker going on at your table. I just chalk it up to the “out of my control” category and don’t think about it very often, certainly not every 15 minutes – I think you’d benefit to take this into account in your next live tourney!
