online poker allowed me to grind at a much lower buy-in amount making it so the swings in my BR where not so drastic.

I've been running like dog shit for 3 weeks now, but that sample size of tournaments is super small. I've played 8 tourneys and ran like shit in all of them. 8 tourneys is 1 session online vs. 3 weeks live. Also those 8 live tournaments represented a much larger % of my BR which double sucks.

Now I'm on life tilt. Live cash games seem to make much more sense. These live "small stks" tourneys have such poor blind structures the variance is throughout the roof!

Guess it's time to work on my cash game and give up on tourneys.

Unless you are playing the 2-3 day events the structure of live MTT's sucks. Still though if you are decent with ICM shoving ranges then its better.

Just play nl$200 though, the players are baddddd. If you have a decent winning track-record online at nl$10, then you should be able to beat it if you play at the correct times. (ie not against regs at 3PM, play against drunks at 1AM)

The bad part is everyone is still tourney crazy. They'd rather play little $20 rebuys that get expensive with quick structures.

I'd rather just play $100nl (.50/$1.00) all day long. I also know I'd crush vs. My player pool. The crappy structures of those 2 table sng's doesn't allow for a ton of skill. Yes my push/fold is very strong, but I've run poorly in all-in pots as of late. Of course that sample size isn't big enough to worry about.

Short term (in terms of number of hands) variance has sucked ass. taking forever to realize actual avg. ROI% and BR taking beating in mean-time.

Would rather just get back to $3r and ~$26 freeze-outs.

Where do you live? I guess I take it for granted that I can find small stakes live games all the time.

I can only echo what Tenbob has said - live tournament structures pretty much always suck and there's much better value to be had in the cash games.

You guys' tournaments/live games sound so much better than here in Colorado.

For whatever reason, No limit Poker is Illegal in Colorado. What they do here by trying to get around the NL ban, they allow the maximum bet to be the buy-in.

Here you got two kinds of ring games. Either sit down with 40 or more and have 10 dollar limit bet or sit down with at least 100 and have a 100 max bet. Either way you have a limit.

Players do suck irl more, nothing but calling stations. It IS IMPOSSIBLE to bet some one off a flush draw in limit poker irl, which can make a good pay out for you, but sucks when everyone does it on every single draw. It isn't poker, its bingo.

Here in Colorado, the "tournaments" suck, I say "tournaments" because they are more akin to Sit 'n Goes than tournaments. Its like 9 -20 people max with a crap payout and even crapper blind structure.

I hate playing IRL.

There is a charity room in Hampton falls, nh that has a great $250 structure. Although the rake is ruff, the play is bad enough to make up for it. It an hour drive from me. Foxwoods/Mohegan is 1:20+ so I'm stuck in bum **** nowhere.

Only agree with the bankroll thing, after playing live for many months now, its virtually impossible for me to sit in front of PC and play poker and watch what I need to watching. The card room keeps my mind on one thing while the PC just makes my mind wonder. Seriously cant compare the variance any worse than online poker, but playing live has the FEEL of playing cards LOL. And Im saying this without wining a dime except for a $75 bounty and $38 only FT first out experience. BUt right now Im one of these weirdos that aint in it for money right now, Im in it for some trophies and once I achieve that goal, the money will follow

I also must take for granted that Im 10 minutes away from my card room and we have things going 24-7 it seems.
