For those who have been following my recent adventures in live tourneys (see also this thread and this one):

Am through to Day Two of the 888 Superstack in Birmingham (England), but severely short-stacked.

I was crippled by a beat in a very large pot on the last hand of the day. I raised with KK, player to my left shoved all in. Big blind folded and showed an Ace. I called. My opponent turned over AJo, meaning that he must hit one of the remaining two Aces in the deck to beat me. Guess what the first card dealt was. :(

I would have been well above average stack and looking good, had I won that. As it stands, I have five big blinds going into Day Two, so must pick a spot to shove more or less immediately. Am quite likely to be out within 15 minutes when we resume tomorrow.

good luck!

all it takes is one hand early, doubling up to 12bb gives you more than enough ammo ;)

A weird thing happened in one of the intervals today. Some guy came up and said hello to me. Said he wanted to get a good look at me because he had been told I was an especially dangerous player and he should be aware of me. I asked who told him that and he just said, "A fellow whose opinion I trust". Very odd.

I don`t reckon I am going to be very dangerous with five big blinds.

Out first hand of the day.

Pushed A7s. Opponent called with 97s, figuring I could be playing ATC because I am shorty, and blinds and antes make it worth his while. When the cards were turned over, I felt good about it - clear favourite to double up.

Then the board came 6, 8, T. :(

Finished 38th.

unlucky man, pity it was first hand but at least you got it in domianting him, can't do any more than that and you can feel good about your play :)
