negative ghost rider...this is an overplayed...outplayed move. many people limp with nothing and make this move with nothing.....at least these days

It can go both ways. I've done this before to represent aces, but certainly you will see aces played this way as well.

I think it's really (like most things poker related) player dependent. If you are up against someone who seems to be a very old school ABC nit, then it can certainly mean this. But there are many times when the limper can just view the initial raise as a squeeze play, especially if there were multiple limpers.

Depends a lot on who you're against with and at what type and what part of a tournament.

almost always. but most often it is the ace of the king and not a pair of aces . a pair of kings in the point guard position so more often.

I would agree with you that it is more often AK than AA but still, to my point, it is almost always a premium hand.

Someday you will fall opponent who would raises from UTG position with 22+
Often guys try to still pot or something in this case.
You think raise from UTG is enough to understand what hand opponent has? As for me, if I chip-leader at the table or something near, I will raise 3bb from UTG even with KTs, 66+ You ask WHY???

REASONS:

- If I get set, flush draw or 2 pair (provided no ACE on the board) I will play CHECK In all current cases. Than all opponents will think that I missed Ace or don't get something special and would make big raise or all-in with middle strong hand with the idea of double up without any calls.

I wasn't saying a raise from UTG, I was saying a limp re-raise from UTG. I've seen people limp-shove with 22+ though.

it's more of a cash game strategy these days, limp-raising AK/JJ+ to more effectively isolate heads-up on tables that otherwise see an early position raise called in 5 spots, resulting in a second best hand far too often.

a similar dynamic may exist with tournaments, in which case a balanced early position limping range isn't the worst thing in the world. but limping anything pre-flop in a tournament is generally considered pretty awful these days and limp/raising AA (and AK for balance) UTG is something we did back in 2006.

if an opponent does it now, it may be strength. depends on the opponent.
