Hi Guys I need some tips but I am going to be a bit vague in what I am asking, basically down the local pub we play a weekly tournament and we can pay a bit extra to be in the league which runs for ten weeks. Points are given to each league player depending where they finish on each night the overall result at the end of the ten weeks is best of seven results so your able to have a week off for other stuff.

Any way this week is the league final, its my first time in the final and I am about 5th in the league. This means there will be 8 at the final table so with regard to chip stack I will be just below mid range. I am not sure 100% what the chip amounts will be because I have never been in the league before now and have been told the chip values will be sorted on the night. Not idea I know but we have the info above.

So my question is how would you play? I believe there are payouts for the top four but this may be incorrect.

Thanks DeSelby

Excellent article thank you for posting the link for me, I have another two days before the final so plenty of times to read this again and again. Its funny as I have been on the final table most weeks down the pub (there are only a few tables to start) but have been looking at the league final table totally differently. I guess is some ways its just the same thing, same people, hopefully roughly the same chip stacks so I just need to remain focused and not let the pressure get to me.

Don't be overly concerned about some player's stacks starting out with more than other's. It really doesn't make much of a difference at all!
What is far more important is > how many bb's you have in your stack as this effects what hands you'll be playing & how you'll be playing them (also of course, the # of bb's in other's stacks). If some players have 200bbs, other's have 150bb.. & a few others have 100 & 75bb's. It doesn't make much difference at all.

I would think 'player reads' would be crucial in a pub tourney like this. Many players won't have a clue what they're doing. What would I do in that situation? It depends on the tourney structure but genearlly speaking I'd be value-betting in a big way cuz they'll likely be paying you off if they catch any piece of the board.

Well guys it wasn't to be my day this time but at least I now know how the league final works. The new league starts next week, runs for ten weeks with the best seven results defining your final league position.

Chips are given out per league points so I wasn't actually that far behind the chip leader. I think I played a little to conservative but it was a good experience. I ended up going out second :(

Thanks again for all your help.
