late stages of a freeroll

Well i started playing poker in 2009 real seriously and locked myself in a room for 6 months studying poker on a few websites like pokersource, bankroll mob and a few others. Back then was the good ole days when american's could still get no deposit bonuses and play at all the poker sites. Well for six months i immersed myself in poker i learned about how position is very important, also how to raise correctly.




Well the quality of players also should dictate how you should play. I play alot of free rolls because i was never good in tournament so i made it my mission to be solid in tournament play and to learn how cash games and tournaments differ and how to adjust your play to last deep into tounaments consistently.

i used to think that trying to get lucky in the beginning of a tournament by calling all ins with trash cards. It worked a frew times but i quickly learned a little thing about freerolls. The guys that start a tournament by going all in hopes to get lucky and stack chips quick will eventually get busted and if i stay at my game pace and watch my position i will have a good stack of chips at a time in the tournament where the only players left more then likely have studied poker and understand betting as well as position posture. The game gets easier for me at that moment because reading a good poker player for me is easier then reading a donk. All i have to do is survive all the all ins in the beginning of the tournament that are sometimes hard to fold cause you have a pair or A K. Ive learned to really only calling someones all in when its almost gaurenteed to be me and the all in together in the had to seee the flop. i call more often when my position bets after my opponet. Calling all ins when there are more then two people invoved in the hand to me very risky cause no matter how strong your hand maybe the more people in a hand will cut the odds of you winning down. So folding strong hands in the beginning of a tournament whenn faced with an all in can gets me better finishes on a consistent basis. If you havent learned the importance of your position i would suggest that you study this part of the game. I know for me it changed how i place in tournament and how much i win is cash games. freerolls usually attract aolt of loose players so weeding them out slowly has helped me in my freeroll tournament play.

Exactly. Play at a moderate pace and you can cash more consistently than those kamikaze early players.

I agree with this completely. In completely open freerolls with sometimes 10000 players i am very tight in the first 3 levels as many people go allin with literally everything and in a multi way pot even very strong hand is not so big favorite.

If you are good at the freerolls, you can try the mtts It is not the same, but if you start with the small buy ins, like 0.55, you will see that they are closer to a freeroll. Then you can move up to the scale of buy ins!

in freerolls very strong pressure, almost every hand involves 3-bet 4-bet preflop and all-in. it is very difficult to resist the temptation to call, especially if there are pocket pairs or A-K, A-Q, A-J.

I like freerolls where you can win and raise a small bankroll to start with, but I only play where a small number of players, but in MTT tournaments one can also play well and try to win, players think and play a normal game, but in tournaments
I play when I have a lot of free time and I try to concentrate on the game, I spend more time in the cash game there you can immediately win money and raise a normal bankroll, and in tournaments or freerolls I do not always get to get into the prize zone- and win money !!

Nice man. This is exactly how to play freerolls. After reaching the late stages u can use all your knowldge and find 3bet (bluff) spots. Coz many player gettig tighter and have a look on the ladders. So at this point to play more aggressive in a healthy way is important i think. GL

in those freeroll you have to be patient most people go all in 7.8 -8.9 -9.10 etc or a big one like AA, KK loses you have to find the right moment for patience

Play the type of poker you'll bring to any other tournament. These are a great way to practice. Even if a donk calls or leads out with bad hands don't worry about their play worry about what you did correctly or incorrectly. There's no loss and if cards hold and you play well there's a reward.

Understood. I have to add my infamous KTo to your list for mine. Skunked me out of two pay-outs lately. You'd think I would have learned the first time! Shucks.

You must always learn and improve your game.
But do not mix different kinds of games in poker.
You need to focus on one direction and improve your game in it.

You are completely right about it, actually after I survive a few hours during a tournament, I only call an all in with players with short stack just when I get a monster hand and know also that I will not lose that lot of money in case that other hand beats mine.

final stage on freeroll tournament is very nervoues because spend more time on play this

I think your level of aggression should depend on your number of BBs. You don't have much room to maneuver when you have less than 100. I think if you're down to 50, you have to take risks when you're as low as a 1:2 dog. That just makes your chances of winning so much greater, and you need that when you're facing such a large field.

I avoid the rodeo clowns going all in early on, and they do go busto usually- USUALLY.

But indeed, playing conservative but for me midway I loosed up a bit an near 'cash' I loosen up even more because everyone is just wanting to at the least cash and they will simply back down saying 'I will wait until I cash- then I'll star to play again'.

I STRUGGLE with position and being valuable, sure I read and hear you have the most information at that point but - position won't magically change what cards you or anyone has, and if someone is AA AK - even hijack seat and shoving? I mean - that's a powerful message as well - HOWEVER - no one has bet anything if all fails so - that's no big win.

I'll just say I struggle with why position is so big, I guess because you can shove or bet big IF you see everyone else betting small?

ty i guess the more money thats involved the more skilled players you will go up against. I cant wait to play against card chat members. Its the only freeroll password that stays silent unless you have earned it

yes ive been mostly a cash game player and there is a differant strategy to use on each one. im looking to deposit on either bcp or acr and ill start playing some low buy ins. Do you play strictley online or do you do live games also\

For 6 months wow!!! Did you make any money like you thought you would??

Great advice. I play a lot of freerolls and have placed in the money a lot and won a few. I have realized patience will get you closer to the money and also helps you learn to be patient.
