In a lot of tournements u have the possibility to register late.
I use this in tournements with hugh player fields to avoid a early shootout Because I get exited when the tournament starts and can not play my A- Game and start to donk around with my chips. Later in tournaments it slows down , so for me its good to start late and I can build my stack easier cause the blinds are bigger.
I like to here some arguments , pro or contra late registration, ty

If you have an edge on the field you should register as early as you can to get in as many hands as you can and maximise your edge.

Late registrations is awesome for poker! I like to get in as early as possible but have found to do better, with my aggressive style play, sometimes when I register late. This actually made me a lot of money on both sides (reg late and early) when playing the 135 man rush $24 SNGs!

The number one important thing about late registration is not about you but other players registering late or registering extremely late. They are faced with high blinds meaning that they have to shove weak and hopefully you as a player who has been in the tournament building your stack can call these weak shoves and build your stack even higher!

I know that many pro's like the late registration in live tournaments too but they have a different BRM than most of us online!

I am interested to hear what others think and I do believe there are other threads like this already!

I think bad because of the high blinds and not have knowledge of the players

Smart idea. Early on people are chomping at the bit to do an allin, so entering a little later after a tournament might avoid some of these unneeded heads up battles early on. I like going in later when the blinds are higher, and so when I go in when not a blind I get rewarded. Early in a game when blinds are 15, 30 I do not get rewarded as well.

In games with a huge add-on like the 1.10 (3x turbo) 60k and 30k rebuys on pokerstars (add-on is here 30k !!) i prefer the "late entry strategy", go in cheap and cash big :)
(buy in last minute and goal is to reach the big add-on)

Don't late reg ever, you need all the chips you can get.

Exception: Deepstack tourney if you suck at cash play; since the first two levels play like a cash table.

i use them in the freeroll tournaments the ticket ones get a ticket nearly all the time

I never late reg to tournaments. At the beginning you can play tight cos the small blinds if you want to.
Or you can play with trash cards like 68o and you can win big with it if you hit a straight... :) So I think missing the beginning of the tour is missing a lot of opportunity.

I never reg late. I need all the chips I can get. I would think late reg works better for very aggressive players. I'm very tight so it doesn't help my style.

I play live not online FWIW.

Not really. The early phase is good for laggy players to splash around, try to add to their chipstack and get reads they can use later.

i like to register late quite often. depends on the tourney structure of course. lately ive been doing $2 and $3 rebuys and just waiting until the break. then when everyone starts late regging, i jump in and get on a fresh table with everyone having equal stacks. typically you'll all start ~12k chips or something and since everyone on the table is even, i think it works out just fine

I never register late, simply because I'm missing a lot of valuable info and possibilities this way. I like to start from the beginning, get a good feel for my table and try to test and of course outplay as much opponents as possible. Also, if you register late you are simply missing a ton of hands at lower blind levels, which could help you increase your stack significantly.

You know, a while ago I recorded in a freeroll when they had more than 40 minutes started the 100k freeroll pokerstars previlige. I have to say that the fact that I was already started the tournament benefit me a lot because I played without pressure, the result was very good so I agree with what you sign up later in tournaments!

Often i play in a 2 hour late reg tournament from the beginning (3000 chips starting stack), have ups and downs, and after 2 hours i have often 2500-2700 chips or something, and i say to myself: why did i play LOL, i could have late regged aswell !

late registration

have you ever registered late in a mtt?

when a mean late is at least 30 min after, obviously in a slow structure, not turbo or faster,

sometimes a see a mtt but im late and i dont know if there is a waste of chances if i get in late considering i could lose opportunities, but sometimes when i register early i see my stack so diminished in a while that i think that im in a worse position than the players entering late, and by the other hand the mtts at the beginning are so slow that sometimes i see the action like one hour or two later

indeed sometimes i can manage to build a strong stack in the early stages but also as i see my stack grow i use to loose my game so time to time i crash faster than when i keep my stack still,

so if one of you reading these have ever tried entering late and consider that could be positive, id like to hear about,

Sometimes i do registered late in a tournament but not intentionally but then again still managed to hit the final table.Maybe lucks got something to do with it.IMO it still best to start early cause you dont know how many good hand that you could be missing when starting late.

I registred late in some turbos tournament( with low BI) and i try to double-triple up. You play push/fold and is very fast to get cash. I play like that only when i don't have much time and i will play some poker :p
In normal or slow blind it is not important if u registred late because blinds are small. It's better to me to skip 2-3 levels of blinds with probably do not change your stack.

If the tournament is still on its first level, I'll register late (granted, that's probably not considered "late"). I just feel like I miss out on useful information and opportunities to start building a stack if I come in late. Other guys don't seem to have a problem with it, but I just prefer to be there from the beginning.

It may be a disadvantage to many however since my style is great for short stacking I will just about always late reg as I feel more comfortable and it has worked greatly for me...often times on Carbon I almost have to as a tourney may start out with 15 players and once late reg ends it has 100-200 so you deal with a lot of table moves which aren't beneficial...at times I will even register with 10bb and try and get a double up quick..it isn't exactly a long term winning strategy but Overrall sometimes late regging is best if you have a habit to spew off early...for the more patient players regging on time is best

In my opinion late registration is not a good decision, because you will miss the chances of double up in early stages. Especially when it's not really a low buy in I wouldn't registrate too late just not to miss the premium hands. It is maybe not bad at rebuy tournements with low buy ins where you can try some all ins immediately at the beginning, because there you can take the chance to win pots without risking your whole stack.
