I am against late registration, I think it is not fair to those players who start the game from the beginning.

I am not against late registration, but I do not like it when it is too long. For example, 10-12 levels. I think that 10-20 minutes would be normal for those cases when you really were late by chance.

It's a compensation, early reg = 1500 blinds to begin the tournament, late reg = 10 blinds to survive, so that's the fairness!

I am not against it except when it becomes beyond excessive ..... Iryna mentioned 10-20 minutes I think that is fine, even half an hour but not 12 levels ..That just seems insane and it is really annoying to me, to the point of not playing those Tournaments, and I won't any more ....

I dont mind late registration as long as it doesnt go into the two, three, or FIVE hour territory. Thats just ridiculous.

I don't like it either.

Not because that is unfair - in a regular tournament you don't get any benefit for registering late. Often the opposite is true.

But it drags out them so they can go on much longer than you first anticipated when you joined them.

Sometimes I just fills on and on and on. Same with re-entry and some re-buys.

With the late registration you have to first survive the registration period then the bubble waiting period makes a long tourney. But I'm use to long tourneys at the casino take one hurdle at a time last till this table shuts then till the next table shuts before you know it your on the final table. I find time moves faster in the casino though it's a lot more sociable.

I don't have a problem with late registration. I think those that register late are actually at a disadvantage as their starting stack is way below the chip average by the time they enter.

i used to do very well registering at the last literal minute and trying to double up and basically min cashing after less than an hr. depending on the mtt, i'll still use that tactic. for freerolls though, i rarely do this last minute registration and rather try to keep stacking off the all in donks.

Good morning ! Depends largely on the situation as: rebuy tournaments is addon these tournaments you can get close to end the rebuy period or you start playing them is better than going at the end.

fair is yes, because the person who came later had less chance to see flops with low blinds!

Late registration is just fine - all depends on how you like to play. No one ever complains when there is more money in the pot and they make the final table...

If you don't mind playing short stacked or push-fold poker, than late registration can be the key for you. I personally like to register early - within the first 3 or 4 levels so I am not incredibly short. This allows you time to play your best game and grow your stack. Not to mention the earlier stages are those with the most fish / bad players willing to assist you in growing your stack :)

I don't see how it is unfair? They will start with less BBs than you started with because the blinds will be higher. Anything longer than 3 hours is a little annoying sometimes but you should factor all of this in before you register. Never register to a tournament that you don't have time to play until the end.

If you feel that they have an advantage by registering late, why not register late yourself? But as I say, there is no real advantage.

It all depends on the tournament start time
e.g. if tournament start time is 8:00 & work finishes at 8:00
it could take 15-30 minutes getting home. So 30 minute registration for small tournament & 2-4 hours for big tournament is good.

It's all been worked out long ago.:D

At the moment I always late register because I find it more comfortable for me to play with a 20-30bbs stack.
In Bounty Builders though I try to register since the beginning because otherwise you will lose opportunities to gather easy bounties from some weak players.

Many good regulars though state that the +EV move is to register every tournament from the very start.

I am not against late registration, but I do not like when it is 120 minute for an example. I think that maximally 30 minutes would be normal for the cases when players were really late

I hate the long late reg so never reg'd from the start. Even if I build a stack early, it never seems to last. I tried waiting and come in with 20-30BB but that doesn't work for most MTTs. Not enough time to build a stack. Lately, I've just been registering when antes kick in which most of the time is half way through late reg (at least on ACR) or when I can start with at least 50BB.

Sometimes i dont like late reg either but for example in most 888 freerolls it's much better (for me) to join in the very last min of late reg cause that way i can save time and still finish ITM ... ;)

When you play from the beggining, yoy have an advantage over the late reg. players, since you get the possibility to play deep during the starting phase, but if you late reg, then you start very shortstack.

This is why I don't like late registering in any tournament!

Late registration must exist, but with a time limit of 5 minutes!
