Probably a really dumb one but I can't find the answer anywhere. What happens if you're in a tourney with late reg and everyone get knocked out before late reg ends? I assume you just sit there and wait for either more players or late reg to end but I thought I'd ask.

The only dumb questions I'm aware of is: 'may I ask a stupid question?'

Good question.
Your assumption is one option.

I would guess that whoever gets eliminated while itm at any moment: gets that prize money. If someone else registers there are less prizes.
In the extreme as you say: if you are the only one left: you get first prize. In practice: the tournament then also has ended.

The only way to really find out is to ask the poker rooms. I would not be surprised if different rooms give different answers.

There was a $530 tournament last week on PS where only 3 players registered and it finished in 13 minutes and winner got $25k.
I'm not sure what happens if there are, for example 9 places paid and they get down to 8 players before late registration finishes and then another player registers for the tournament, who gets paid 9th place prize?

I've seen this happen in party poker. The moment the number of players is equal to the number of places paid the late registration period is over. This seems to be the standard way of handling it.

This happened to me once in an MTT I was in on ACR. As soon as we reached the money, late registration automatically ended even though there were still a few levels remaining. This must be standard procedure.

Yes thanks everyone who replied. I dug a little deeper into this and asked some of the sites on their support chat and got a range of answers which mostly led to them saying they had no idea what actually happens lol. Nice to get some actual examples to answer the question so thanks again y'all, curiosity satisfied :D

Yes, this was my first assumption. However, I really wonder how would it be settled in live tournaments?

Its a good question, the way I see it if that were to happen, you would wait for more players to register until late reg ends.

I think that if there is one winner, then the late registration automatically ends like the tournament.

This almost happens on the Level 10 free rolls on 888 pretty much everytime. The blinds (3 min) are too fast for the late reg period (30 min), and the number of players always sits just above the number payed at the 30 minute mark. It's so bad that I can cash just by enrolling right at the end of late reg
